Since Freud theres been a whole sequence of prominent psychologists all with their own theories of how sexuality plays a role in a persons mental/emotion well being. Some believe its of primary importance, others treat it as nothing more than any other mechanical desire having little to do with overall human happiness.

Your thoughts?

Freud was wrong about most everything. He confused the inner workings of his own mind with general principles.

i think it's very important, because being happy sexually will generally make you much happier mentally. on the reverse, unhappiness in that regard can cause some very serious problems both short and long term.

Though most of what Freud had to say was complete garbage, I have little doubt that sexual frustration plays a large part in aggression, mental illnesses, and even creativity. A great amount of prominent artists had a sexual problem with in their lives, from Van Gogh’s constant sexual frustration and refusal from women to Emily Dickinson’s unfulfilled lesbianism. With this said, its common knowledge that mental illnesses and suicide attempts have a greater occurrence among creativity individuals. I recall one psychology book I read in which the author noted that a high degree of her scientific references had already committed suicide by the book’s publication.

If you are to accept the common view of natural selection, that an organism’s main goal is to survive and reproduce then its almost impossible to deny the sex drives affect on be behavior. Everything from competition among members of the same sex to development of human intelligence are regarded as means to reproduction.

Human body is designed to procreate. Once that function is passed, that is babies are produced, the impact of sexual issues lessen to a great degree. But human mind is an amazing item. Cognitive issues can arising based on the inner logic resulting in many problems that can disguise as sexual.

I value Freud, all his theories hold to the test of time. You must experience them to fully grasp.
