View Full Version : What is your profession?
apendrapew 05-16-04, 04:30 PM Me? I'm not a professional at anything yet. I'm working this summer as a roofer. Other than that, I'm a full time college student, majoring in computer information systems to become a professional computer programmer. I also have plans on being a professional jazz bassist. Yes, that's probably going to be way harder. Those guys are sick
Enigma'07 05-16-04, 04:39 PM I'm not a proffesional either. I don't even have a summer job. I'm just a high school student, but I think a cool job to have would to be a physicsist. Someday. Maybe.
eddymrsci 05-16-04, 04:51 PM I am a 10th grader looking for a summer job. I would like to find cure for diseases someday, like a medical researcher probably.
eddymrsci 05-16-04, 05:09 PM you play the bass? cool? I play the sax and I am in the school jazz band (we suck!)
apendrapew 05-16-04, 05:13 PM Yep. I was in the school jazz band too, except I played trombone in it. We also sucked :). That's what got me into jazz. Then I joined another band as the bass guitarist and realized the bass is a fuckin' sweet instrument.
Enigma'07 05-16-04, 05:21 PM I was never in jazz band but I used to play trombone. It's an awsome instrument.
Closet Philosopher 05-16-04, 05:59 PM I am taking classes that will eventually allow me to be a teacher (of biology, I hope). I play the bass but I am not currently in a band.

top mosker 05-17-04, 03:33 AM Sometimes, I find a puppy, take out a razor blade, and slit its throat in front of a troop of girlscouts.
It gets a great reaction.

Big deal...'sometimes' you do that....I cut up embryos for a living.
cosmictraveler 05-17-04, 07:17 AM top mosker....You should try that on yourself sometimes, just to see the girl scouts reaction. I would enjoy watching you myself, could you do it soon?
SwedishFish 05-17-04, 10:12 AM chemist, for now. is it a profession if it's only for now? cause i don't plan on doing this forever. my training is in biochem.
Insurance, self employed.
Dreamwalker 05-17-04, 11:00 AM Just finished school (today, in fact just about an hour ago). IŽll go to university at the end of summer. Until then, i will enjoy myself a bit :D
whitewolf 05-17-04, 11:15 AM No summer job, no profession. College student, future illustrator (that means, floor washer, burger/clothing salesperson, anything that comes at hand). My gov't prof. said artists are the modernizing elite. I am going to be an ELITE! An under/unpaid elite!
SwedishFish 05-17-04, 11:21 AM there was that dude who said some quote about that. (how vague)
it was something about studying politics and war so his sons could study literature and science so their sons could study art and music.
or something not like that at all. but yeah, art is the ultimate in useless pursuits so it's a sign of refinement and a leisurely society devoid of conflict. the better off your society is, the more art/culture it produces.
whitewolf 05-17-04, 11:28 AM Well, my parents studied science, and my grandparents studied war and medicine. So, here's me.
Just curious, what do sons/daughters of artists study? Do artists have children?! (You can hear my major concerns for the past year or two.)
SwedishFish 05-17-04, 12:30 PM they become psychics and gypsies
spuriousmonkey 05-17-04, 12:46 PM My parents are worker class (well, the one that is still alive. The other one is dead).
What should I study?
SwedishFish 05-17-04, 12:47 PM obviously marxism
spuriousmonkey 05-17-04, 12:50 PM Do you think it is too late to start doing that at 34?
SwedishFish 05-17-04, 01:12 PM it's never too late to start a socialist revolution
whitewolf 05-17-04, 11:48 PM they become psychics and gypsies
Oh yeah? I'll wip them into shape from second No. 1 so that they turn into successful politicians, not idiots like me.
gypsies... how dare you scare me like that?
