I use HP Deskjet 680, not bad.
But the ink is rather expensive, especially the color one.

And, I also use HP Scanner.

Do you think a printer integrated with scanner is a better choice?

HP Deskjet 612C

Got it as a bonus item, so that's why it's so crap-talic. :)

Seems like the HP Deskjet's a popular item. :) But what I really want is a laser printer! We have them at school, and I just love the glossy images and the funny smell. :D

I have myself a 2400x1200 dpi, LexMark Z45 printer. Color inkjet and USB 1.1 (sorry for all of you guys still running off the LCP/parallel port :p )

My parents have a laser printer, but it is black and white (color laser printers are lordly expensive, minimum price of $500, but non commercial ones can go up to $2,000  ), and actually the print quality is not as good as mine.

In modern days, laser is generally fast; also, you don't have to replace ink cartridges (laser printers use a toner cartridge which doesn't require maintenance nearly as much).

Actually BlueSoul, the black and white laser printers aren't all that expensive. About the same as color inkjet, maybe less depending on the manufacturer.

I love my LexMark (though they added some "automatic update" type features to their driver package that I'm not too fond of; though these are optional on install and can be disabled). They have been doing really well in the printer area recently.

The 3 in 1 printers, fax machines, and scanners take up less room, but generally aren't of the quality of stand alone machines.

I avoid all HP products. Besides, they are a brand name manufacturer for PCs.

The print speed depends on the quality setting and whether the page is in color.

I think it does. Because I myself once said people who call themselves nerds build their own PCs from scratch, not buy assembled brand PCs like Gateway, Dell, HP, etc.... So I just like contradicting myself :D

I use an Epson 200 color that I have had for ages. For a cheap printer it does well. Rather than buying ink cartridges, I refill them. The original cost of the printer was $125 new. I can not tell you how long I have had this thing. It is on its second computer.

I have a cheap Mustec scanner that is also on its second computer.

I also built my pc from scratch, but that doesn't mean I have to do the same with a printer...
HP is not bad really, so why should I not use it

it is, but its because I was uncareful once and I short circuted it and the power block blew up and I had to replace the wireing for hard drives and now, even after I switchi it off, free electricity of 0.3 w runs through it (that is very bad)
