Self-destruction? Transformation?

Why can't it be a bit of both? In parts of the world, humans might self-destruct, but in other parts they might well continue to the process of evolving.

And in fact, I've rarely if ever seen or heard of all humans doing anything together at any time in history.

Well, you have heard of other animals going extinct? Or perhaps, a newer species evolves and takes over the older animals' habitat by force or inbreeding?

We could evolve into this.....

Or we might get destroyed by something besides ourselves.. for instance a large meteorite, a supervulcano or an iceage, etc.

Why so few optimists?

You want optimism?
Okay - I'm really looking forward to a giant meteorite smashing us all to bits. Can't wait.
(Was that right?)

We can hope for the best but expect the worse.

Did you ever see The Future Is Wild (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_The_Future_Is_Wild_species)? It was great! We had left the planet and it showed how life had continued to evolve. Squid had taken over.

I don't think the fate of mankind will end on this planet.

People have seriously broken eachothers and also innocent people's hearts and lives through the name of god, race, country etc. It's time the world be run on the rational and humane, not the inhumane, ego and powertrips. We do not have the excuses of the past as we can make a better world as we let go of supersititon. The world needs to come together and not buy into these tools of oppression, hatred and division.

But what about all the murderers, rapists, killers, etc? Don't they have a right to have some fun now and then? Or are you going to do something terrible to them ...like get rid of them or something?

Murderers and rapists and child molesters are people, too! :D

Likewise, racists, warmongers, suicide bombers, terrorists, gang members, con artists, thieves, robbers, ......, they're all people, too.

Hell, EFC, the Muslim suicide bombers have more freedom than any of the rest of us by a wide, large margin!! ...LOL!

Self-destruction? Transformation?Transformation and immortality because we'll soon know how to manipulate the very building blocks of life itself.

Self-destruction? Transformation?

What's the point of this question? We don't have enough data and capability to deduce answers and perform accurate analysis. Any response is mere conjecture as result of personal feelings.

The future, we become masters of engineering cellular life. And humankind become cyborgs...eventually we become machines as biological life forms really have no purpose. As a result, communism becomes the economic system of choice...material wealth really has no meaning since the fundamental economic problem has been resolved. There will be splinter groups who don't want to follow the program. But it will eventually become necessary to leave our physical bodies behind as our sun grows old and dies. Our bodies are just not made for interstellar travel. When we arrive at suitable planet, new bodies can be engineered for those desiring such. Religion will of course need to do some serious evolution as it has done and will continue to do. That is the future in a nutshell.

Presumably either the big crunch or the big chill, if we make it that far.
