How is it we have working on the black market?
Why dont we have working on the white or yellow market?

It seams to me this is a racist market is it not?

Or did the PC people not see this grave oversight?

Black, as in "black ops", deriving from the hidden nature of darkness and night. Not black people, jeez.

You could call it shadow market, because it operates not in the bright light, if you want to be so PC, but other people won't understand you.

Where did this phrase come from my guess probably to describe a time when large numbers of blacks came on the labor market in the uk or the US, but as we dont have a white market & it would be racist to have a white market, i think the word black market needs to be banned as i find it offensive & not PC.

Why not stop using the word black to describe people of dark skin color instead? After all, they're not really black, just like whites aren't really white. Why choose "black market" over "black people"? I'm not for banning either, just wondering where your preference comes from.

if it was truly dark, no one would be able to realize the market was there. So yes "shadow" market is more relevant of a name.

Yes let's just ban the word BLACK.

No more Black Markets, Black Magic, Black eyed peas, Black and Tans, Black and Milds, Blackened chicken or that f**king racist horse The Black Stallion (who was also NOT black.)

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to town to have my weekly black massage.

I guess nobody knows anymore how to use the internet for research.

Since your assumption is incorrect, your point is fucking MOOT! Get yourself down from the PChorse!:

BLACK MARKET - "as originally used during World War II meant the market in buying and selling stolen military supplies, such as clothing, blankets, food, and truck tires. The term had also seen some use in World War I, when it entered English as a translation of the German 'Schwarzmarkt.'" From "I Hear America Talking" by Stuart Berg Flexner (Von Nostrand Reinhold Co., New York, 1976). Another source says the phrase got its start in 1931 and meant "unauthorized dealing in commodities that are rationed or of which the supply is otherwise restricted. After a slow start in the 1930s, mainly in the area of currency dealing, the term really took off in the disrupted economic circumstances of World War II." From "20th Century Words: The Story of New Words in English Over the Last 100 Years" by John Ayto (Oxford University Press, New York, 1999).

Sometimes, after I've had a lot of red wine, the next day my shit looks black, but I know it's not really black, it's just shit with a lot of flavonoids in it.

Whatever the origins, the phrase black market is not PC anymore its racist, as we dont have a white or yellow market i dont see why we should have a black market.

Also the phrase black magic that should be banned too, oh and black chocolate, lets have coloured chocolate to be more PC.

I have heard of dark chocolate but not black chocolate. Lets actually just get rid of the color black, and declare war on the night sky and all its racist ways!

Black markets in general are not politically correct. Banning the term would be like telling the mafia to stop using curse words.

The colour black as been perceived as evil throughout history, whether its in american western movies where the bad guy used to wear black or dracula.

In modern times we associate the colour black with islam & burka's or africa, i firmly believe the colour black needs to be outlawed.

We could also change the name of the black pencil to very dark pencil, but that would be stupid....

So you dont say associate black with say darth vader, or the emperor, black is a symbol of death & evil, be it at funerals or at the movies, it is high time this colour was outlawed both in speach & in fashion, it is the root cause of arguments.

If we outlawed it & called everthing black, pink, then everyone would feel more happy, more bright, and more positive about black or now pink issues, sure gays maybe pissed if we steel there colour, as they have spent so much time getting good PR over the pink$, and have promoted pink for a long time, but i am sure if we took there pink & give them say a tangerine or turquoise to play with they can get that colour off the ground too.

But africa & islam & all things called black need a new PR colour, a julie andrews feel good colour, & pink is it, it could save millions of lives worldwide, pink relaxes people, black has a colour of hosility in people, regarding the colour black it has been proven that it makes people react more than any other colour in a negative fashion & thats in scientic tests, even black people react badly to the colour black.

you have the cause and effect BACKWARDS.

We fear the dark, its one of the primal fears that go back to when we were monkeys living in trees

So WHATEVER you call "black" will come to be seen the same way as the WORD "black"
