Hello People.

Even though the Middle-east situation inclduing Iraq and Lebanon etc.... is important and needs to be discussed, how about talking about congo. what the hell is going on there. From the little i have read it looks completely mess up.

Nobody cares about the Congo. It's a bunch of uneducated black people killing themselves in land we don't care about. The great thing about Africa is that it's a cash cow. Most countries sell arms to them so they can kill themselves, and we profit from it. Woohoo! Why would they want to change that?

I've read almost 3 million people have been killed in the DR of Congo over the last decade. Civil war between rival militias and tribes, insurgents from Rwanda and Burundi have taken sides, crossed the border and have supplied their allies with weapons. Mass killings with machetes, axes and knives are commonplace, especially in the Kivu & Upper Zaire provinces in the NE. The local population is trapped as the government has made no distinction between the foreign supplied rebels and hapless locals. They're all killed. The country's leader Kabila is a corrupted and mostly powerless man as the military is the true source of power in the country. This holocaust was inevitable. Belgium drew boundaries good for Belgium of course, ah that nasty imperialism rears it's head again. Forcing together literally hundreds of tribes together to compete for resources was a recipe for disaster. Everyone thought Saddam was an evil killer. The African Holocausts still raging in DR of Congo, Sudan, Somalia, Uganda and the wave of violence across once prosperous West Africa have proven the powers of the world have zero interest in stopping the situation. A few thousand dead Bosnians was enough to rally world attention. outrage, shock and action, not the case for those unfortunate enough to call sub-Saharan Africa home.
