I was thinking of making a thread like this, redoubtable. It bothers me somewhat because I think of you as my prime adversary.

Anyway, I spent last night in a movie theatre, and I was with a group of friends, one of them I hold a romantic interest for. She was with a friend of hers, I sat next to her on the couch, managed to inch as close as I felt necessary (which was pretty damn close). The movie was called Frida, it was great, very enjoyable. I discussed the movie with them, made some jokes, tried to get her talking etc, and I feel that to some extent she flirted with me.

Her birthday is on valentine's day apparently, I bought some exotic earrings in NYC a few weeks ago, but now I can't find them. I might use them if I find them, I might not. Sooner or later I'm going to ask her to see a movie with me alone.

It's been my experience that girls our age, redoubtable, want someone who is charismatic, who is intelligent, and who is not an asshole, to not only themselves but the people around them. I have had some measure of success with the other sex because these things I have described are arguably within my personality.

The key is to not hang off of them, to not need them every waking moment. A girl that I had managed to "seduce," if you want to call it that:D, chatted with me about nothing online for at least three hours. We technically weren't going out but we might as well have been. After that I didn't go back on trill for a few weeks, I avoided her at school etc, I broke things off. The crush she has on me remains though...she wanted to breed with me in honors biology a week ago (it was a genetic hands-on thing with chromosomes and traits). Essentially I could have lost my virginity, could have taken advantage of this girl, who was completely under my control. I chose not to because I didn't really like her that much, even if she was on the attractive side. I didn't want to have to think fifty years from now that I had sex with her.

Also, always keep your eyes on theirs. I love doing that now...I can't get enough of the eyes of the one I like now...

Yes. Brains and charisma. Redoubtable, I know the words that you use and for the most part I choose not to use them because they tend to only confuse the situation. You're not smart if you use big words. You're smart if you know how to make people understand what you're saying. If you want to compliment someone, say that her clothes look nice (or something to that effect). See what I'm getting at?

The trick is not to sound smart, but to sound interesting. Listen to yourself speak, to your words, grammar, vocabulary. Listen to what you talk about. It's been my experience that for the girls that I'm into that interesting tends to revolve around books, movies, and some television shows. If she's in a class with you, talk about what happens in the class.

I guess I'm kind of lucky here, she sits right across from me every lunch although that's going to change after next week. After that I'll probably only see her on tuesdays:(

I would tend to agree with you Tyler...but around here there really isn't much of a sense of social status, at least around the sophomores. Never! I'm ashamed to say it but I've seen too many girls trying to this and it amazes me what they get away with and how they have the gall to think that (a) there's something needs changing or (b) that they have a right to work on it it (read, nag nag nag).

If they don't like something then they shouldn't be with that guy. Chances are they're treating him as a vehicle to lifestyle they want. The guy himself is sort of coincidental, especially once they've knocked all his edges off and made him invisible.

I'm sure you're all too interesting and such to go for girls like this but first they get you - seem all fascinating and such - and then they get to work, and I've seen some pretty interesting and individualistic girlfriends of men friends of mine suddenly turn into total nag bags leaving the poor guy totally confused so then they give in a bit and then she's got them. And I'm not talking wimps here, I'm talking guys I wouldn't have expected to stand for it.

When will we finally understand that there is not a category for everything. Men and women obviously don't fit into themso why do we keep going by this Russian "If apply enough force, must fit" philosophy. The categories women have designed for men will probably desribe one man to the most infintesiamal detail, form near misses around 20-30%, while sadly missing the rest of the population. I am not being sexist at all, because men categorize more than women--but being a guy myself--most guys really don't care to categorize women by more than wether they are attractive or not. Smart or not. Simple things that are basic requirements for human beings. (Note: most things cannot be categorizd accurately)
Moving along to the topic of what women want...
First thing that every man needs to know: a woman does not want what women want. (See, there was a reason for that whole category thing. eh, eh) A woman, like the category percentages for men, do not want what every other woman wants. As guys, we need to learn two things: specialization and adaptability. A woman wants to have her needs met, and to meet them, guys need to find what they are. How? Well that seems to be the big question. Ask. Most guys have the right idea at first with the whole take you out to the movies and open the door for her thing, but (excuse my language) don't be a liitle bitch about it and act shy; go for the gold and ask if the girl is enjoying herself on the date. Keep in mind that reserved and shy are very different things. Granted a lot of people jsut want the other person to know what to do, so that's why you watch her. Not all stalker-like, but observe how she moves and reacts to things. Big pointer for you ignorant dudes out there: watch her eyes; follow what she's looking at and comment politely. On the other end of the spectrum for you jerks out there, don't be an ass just because you don't know what to do. If a girl prods at you--like anyone else--you are probably doing something the girl wants you to take note of. Once again, watch the eyes and facial expressions; I garauntee that if you watch closely, her face will tell you what to do. (Now to cover my own buttookus, I am not categorizing girls, but humans...no, not humans, but most creatures of earth with faces. If a lion shows you its teeth it is not smiling at you. I am not shifting my position. Orgasms are good to perform, but there are things that must come first and are often more important. Think about it this way: if you had to spend a year in a cave with an attractive female (given all the life essentials) do you honestly think you could say, "Hey baby, I can give you an orgasm" and she would just fall all over you? Seriously- all THIS woman wants- is a long, happy and healthy life together for my husband and myself. This thread was really insightful. Im too young to have charisma, lots of money, muscles and a i own the planet personality. I don't get alot of dates because I am the nice quite day who would wait on their woman hand and foot. While getting them whatever they ask for. Im pleasant to talk to but not real attractive thanks to my cheap parents who refuse to buy me braces and contacts. Its hard to get them to shell out of razors. Atleast I can do something about the unibrow

What women want isnt always some 6foot tall guy with abs and plays pro foot ball. Most normal women want a guy who remebers little things about them and dose some thing sweet with that info later. Like if you girl friend tells you she dosnt like choclate ice creem and you guys go out of ice creem, Get her the kind she likes with out haveing to ask her. Women want a Sweet guy plane and simple. However, Most women dont know guys as well as they should. Women will think that a guy is perfect. The he tells her he loves her, then she sleeps with him, then he will leave. Most guys are ass holes laddys. BUT there are some out there that are truely what you are looking for.

You could say its all about genetics and finding a suitable mate ^_^ granted out added "Intellect" and advanced social structures take this a little further out from being the deciding factor in what women "or indeed males" want it still counts for a hell of a lot so learn to abuse that and your in ^_^.

Honestly, I believe it varies on each woman (or girl).

Mine personally would include: someone who is intellegent and can hold a decent conversation (small talk is fine too), someone who wouldn't invalidate my feelings (a biggie I think with most females), someone who is easy to get along, has a sense of humor, someone who has manners (seems silly right? You'd be surprised.), and someone who has self confidence but again, without appearing arrogant. He wouldn't have to be a "pretty boy" but good hygiene is a MUST. I hear people describe different physical features and I would say I personally dig men's eyes - no matter the color.

As far as the cologne thang goes, I happen to be someone who digs anything that has a pleasant scent, so I would suggest that as long as you don't bathe in it, a little might go a long way. ;)

If he loves you, he will, because you will be special to him. I want someone who is intelligent and can carry on a conversation. Are looks important? A little bit, but not as much as other things. I need to be attracted to him, but as far as that goes, I’m not very picky. Of course, no girl is going to want to date a guy that they are not attracted to, regardless of his personality. His friends are important too. Are they the guys that I want to be hanging out with or are they losers? I don’t look for guys who are commitment minded either. If a guy informs me he want to marry me (which has happened) it complicates things. I like to be relatively free, live for the moment, and basically spend quality time with him.
