View Full Version : What browser do you use Avatar 03-27-03, 01:45 PM so, which is the best and why do you like it Avatar 03-27-03, 01:49 PM Mozilla 1.2.1. see my Mozilla thread http://www.sciforums.com/showthread.php?threadid=19707 CompiledMonkey 03-27-03, 01:57 PM I use IE6. I wouldn't say it is the best, but it's what I'm used to and does everything I want in a browser. Avatar 03-27-03, 02:08 PM did you know that IE 6 automatically downloads an ad company tracer cookie just as you tur it on? check for youself with adaware CompiledMonkey 03-27-03, 02:15 PM Originally posted by Avatar did you know that IE 6 automatically downloads an ad company tracer cookie just as you tur it on? check for youself with adaware That's cool. I have nothing to hide. Besides, since people don't pay for IE, MS needs to make the money to pay for its development somewhere. Avatar 03-27-03, 02:17 PM people don't pay for Mozilla also ;) CompiledMonkey 03-27-03, 02:23 PM Originally posted by Avatar people don't pay for Mozilla also ;) That's why its development will be hurting when compared to IE. Since the company developing IE is for profit, they have more resources to use in its development. Therefore, Mozilla will not last as long or get as much development as IE. People will lose interest at some point. It's hard to spend all of your time working on something for free when you need to support yourself and in most cases, a family. I understand the process of open source, I support open source, I am currently writing a research paper about open source, but it's just simple economics. :D Thor 03-27-03, 02:25 PM Opera 6 I believe, cracked thanks to Psychomantis. Works wonders and makes my taskbar nice and clean Avatar 03-27-03, 02:28 PM Originally posted by CompiledMonkey That's why its development will be hurting when compared to IE. I wonder why Linux hasn't died  you just don't know how many open source fanatics are there :) CompiledMonkey 03-27-03, 03:16 PM Originally posted by Avatar I wonder why Linux hasn't died  you just don't know how many open source fanatics are there :) GNU/Linux isn't completely made up of people not getting paid to write code. If you know anything about open source, you should know that. How do you think it is still around? Now that companies have gotten so interested in the development of Linux, even more money is coming in. Mystech 03-27-03, 03:20 PM Open source is computerized communism! I know but why do others may not get interessted in the development f Mozilla? and the open source guys from the money they're making on Linux, can develop other projects for free Avatar 03-27-03, 03:26 PM Originally posted by Mystech Open source is computerized communism! so what's wrong with that? it works on net offline it sucks big time, I'd like to kill all the comies [and they have tried to send me to far north in early 90s], but just because it isn't working offline and it just turns into despotism spookz 03-27-03, 03:30 PM open source is an enterprise. it is also free. therfore it is free enterprise! (weak but valid)! ;) spacemanspiff 03-27-03, 03:43 PM i've got Mozilla, IE and Netscape. i ust net the least cause it's a bitch to load and it crashes. the one i've had least trouble with is Mo', so i'm sticking with that. blankc 03-29-03, 09:14 PM Mozilla does have money put into it's developement by big business actually. AOL owns nescape now, and since the newer netscapes are based off mozilla then aol helps the mozilla developement. I use phoenix, which is also based off mozilla, but much better. sargentlard 03-29-03, 11:27 PM i use IE6..i don't really get anal retentive about which browser to use...as long as it opens and takes me where i want it's all good. Captain_Crunch 03-30-03, 11:50 AM Opera 7, its amasing. sad82 04-01-03, 04:11 PM what the heck about crashes .. all software crash as long as it is windows. I use opera and it too crashes but it recovers. Facilities like continue browsing from where u left has impressed me . So now just forget when opera crashes or windows itself crash u don't miss out the sites u were visiting. No other IE, Mozilla, Netscape provides such a feature and its skins, tabs are cool . Tabs were first introduced by Opera followed by Mozilla and I hope IE too does it soon. Opera althogh is more heavy than IE on start(when u open 1-2 windows) but as u open up more (say above 10) the RAM and CPU usage is much less compared to IE. This all goes with windows. On linux where nothing crashes Mozilla is better (than Opera) because of its fonts .. the fonts of Opera in Linux sucks.. Ocassionally I switch back to my Windows partition and run IE. On my new Zaurus 5500 PDA I run Opera as my browser...very nice for a PDA. -AntonK Alien Mastermind 04-05-03, 08:44 AM Internet Explorer Version 6.0 |
