View Full Version : Weird Mars Rover Spirit Image cat2only 01-08-08, 04:49 PM Looks like some sort of shelter in the background. http://marsrover.nasa.gov/gallery/all/2/r/1407/2R251273680EFFAX00P1314R0M1.JPG DwayneD.L.Rabon 01-08-08, 04:54 PM It is a ski resort. cat2only 01-08-08, 04:57 PM Looks like it don't it? With skiers on the slope also!! DwayneD.L.Rabon 01-08-08, 05:11 PM Sure does, but it could be a winter cabin, and sheds. we will have to get a Ariel shot from the satilte to confirm this new discovery. DwayneD.L.Rabon spidergoat 01-08-08, 05:15 PM That's not part of the landscape, it's part of the camera. superluminal 01-08-08, 05:16 PM Uhh.. Gents, It's the inside edge of the camera shroud on the rear hazard cam. draqon 01-08-08, 05:16 PM the semicircle depicts the reflection of the inside of the rover camera and other sensors...it is not part of the scenery http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/4769/roverfn4.jpg the red circles depict the same image, of an object inside the camera aperture view, from two sides. cosmictraveler 01-08-08, 05:17 PM It is a ski resort. :bravo::roflmao: cat2only 01-08-08, 05:26 PM Wouldn't the camera be on the rover and not near the horizon? draqon 01-08-08, 05:26 PM http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/8458/rover2ep1.jpg The following depicts camera equipment CAD generated image of the Opportunity rover superluminal 01-08-08, 05:30 PM The image in question is from the rear hazard camera, Not the boom-mounter binocular camera. superluminal 01-08-08, 05:30 PM http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/8098155/ draqon 01-08-08, 05:33 PM The image in question is from the rear hazard camera, Not the boom-mounter binocular camera. were is that one located on the rover? :bugeye: here is the full image link of the Opportunity rover....show me http://www.star.le.ac.uk/~db139/pictures/soil02.jpg cat2only 01-08-08, 05:33 PM Correct this is not the PAN CAM. It is the rear hazard camera! superluminal 01-08-08, 05:35 PM were is that one located on the rover? :bugeye: here is the full image link of the Opportunity rover....show me http://www.star.le.ac.uk/~db139/pictures/soil02.jpg It's mounted under the rear solar array. You can't see it in this image. shichimenshyo 01-08-08, 05:36 PM http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/8098155/ superlum's link clearly shows that its just part of the cover over the back mounted camera. superluminal 01-08-08, 05:38 PM http://news.bbc.co.uk/nol/shared/spl/hi/pop_ups/04/sci_nat_spirit0s_mars_exploration/img/2.jpg cat2only 01-08-08, 05:40 PM Is the RAT on the front or rear of the rover? draqon 01-08-08, 05:42 PM Got it http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/39729000/gif/_39729389_mer2_info416.gif http://www.ad-loznica.org.yu/slike/noge.jpg superluminal 01-08-08, 05:45 PM http://marsrovers.jpl.nasa.gov/mission/spacecraft_surface_rover.html draqon 01-08-08, 05:47 PM And...also...this time animation shows that landscape is changing and the images reflected of inside hazcam are not...which proves that it is not indeed a ski resort http://www.lyle.org/~markoff/collections/spirit_rearhazR_1250_1272.gif cat2only 01-08-08, 05:51 PM Looks like the support structure inside brightens up and gets dimmer to me just like the two rocks to the side. cat2only 01-08-08, 06:46 PM http://marsrover.nasa.gov/gallery/all/2/r/1403/2R250917667EFFAW__P1301R0M1.JPG cat2only 01-08-08, 06:52 PM Actually there are hundreds of images of this!! http://marsrover.nasa.gov/gallery/all/2/r/1215/2R234227372EFFATF3P1312R0M1.JPG cat2only 01-08-08, 07:31 PM Took a optical photo with my camera on the computer screen. Seems you can see more deatail! http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s54/hurricanedude/200712080003.jpg superluminal 01-08-08, 07:34 PM Why? cat2only 01-08-08, 07:38 PM It is obvious you can see more internal structure with more zoom. superluminal 01-08-08, 08:19 PM It is obvious you can see more internal structure with more zoom. Oh. Ok. draqon 01-08-08, 09:24 PM Oh. Ok. lolz sly1 01-08-08, 10:05 PM ROFLMFAO at this post...... lightgigantic 01-08-08, 10:31 PM make for a good reference for "the limits of empiricism" next time the subject gets approached :D MetaKron 01-08-08, 10:42 PM So what's the joke here? The object on the horizon is obviously some kind of structure and it seems to have something like telegraph poles leading away from it in both directions. Did someone paint "Sol 1250" on an image from a test on Earth? Never mind, I get it. The camera can see the inside of the lens housing because it's using a fisheye lens. cat2only 01-09-08, 07:37 AM It's all an illusion I am sure of it. Trick photography for sure. It has to be part of the rover. Sometimes things don't appear to be what they really are!! |
