Since the chat area (see here: http://www.sciforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=20665) seems to be vacant most of the time , I would like to make a suggestion that could remedy this matter, and hear other Sciforums members thoughts about it. I suggest that a time on Friday (when it is Friday in the US, by the way) be decided upon to have a casual discussion on whatever concerns posters, and I suggest that 9:00 pm Central Standard Time, which is 3:00 on Saturday in GMT for consideration (Note: For time zone conversion, see here http://www.timezoneconverter.com/cgi-bin/tzc.tzc, and remember to put your queries in 24 hour time format and uncheck the "Use Current Date/Time" box). If any posters have any suggestions on other possible days and times to have a "meeting of the minds", please post them, as I think that myself and others would like to hear your thoughts.
I would attend the chat eagerly, only the time suggested does not suits me - I live in Europe, so 3 a.m. is rather too soon for me.
I agree, the time is a bit off. Maybe it should be on a Sunday when no one is at work? Other then that I think it's an excellent idea.
Well for now, Sunday seems to be meeting with little objections, so it seems that sometime on Sunday will do. However, Raha has raised an interesting point, since many posters live in time zones with a large difference from Central Standard Time, one time may not suit everyone. So, I submit the following question for consideration: Should there be one time for the "Weekend Chat" that would suit most (like around 12:30 PM Central Standard Time on Sundays, which is 6:30 PM GMT), or two times, one that would suit those in the eastern hemisphere, and one for those in the western hemisphere (like 7:00 PM Central Standard Time for those in the western hemisphere, and 7:00 PM GMT for those in the eastern hemisphere)? Frankly, I think that until there is a decent amount of people coming to the chat regularly, that we should try to keep one uniform meeting time. If it starts to get too full, then we could split up into two meeting times. However, just to get a gauge of how many people will actually arrive, I think that there should be a "Weekend Chat" today from about 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM Central Standard Time, which is 1:00 AM - 2:00 AM GMT, unfortunately. So, to all those who are interested, come to the chat, located here: http://www.sciforums.com/chat.html between 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM Central Standard Time (1:00 am - 2:00 am GMT) today, and enjoy some casual conversation about whatever is on your mind. Also, unless there are objections by next week (and post in this thread if you have any), next Sunday's "Weekend Chat" will be held from 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM Central Standard time (6:30 PM - 7:30 PM GMT), so mark your calendars. Note: If you are going to come to the chat, you might want to use your usual Sciforums username, so you don't have to waste time explaining to everyone who you are. Edit: Never mind.
I will not manage today. It is Sunday, but I am tired from work (that's the drawback of self-employment!) Next week sounds better.
Well, I'm in there right now... If anyone is interested, drop in! Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
