    How can i set up a small web site in Scotland (or does that not matter?)

    i think you might have to get some kind of permission to do that from your internet provider?:bugeye:

    depends what you want. There are plenty of sites that offer free websites, but that usually comes with advertisements. They also often offer upgrades with better services and no advertisements. But you have to pay for that.

    and then there is the possibility to get your own domain (such as www.spuriousmonkey.com. But you need someone to host that domain, but that also costs money. And the domain name costs money.

    The free websites have the disadvantage of a longer domain name. If you would get a geocities site than the URL could for instance be http://www.geocities.com/spuriousmonkey/

    or as some of the other people do here, they leave their computer on day and night and are their own server.

    but for free websites, here are two:
    lycos.co.uk
    geocities

    but there are many more...you could probably find one easily by searching with google

    and yes...i managed to promote my site twice in this post
