When the Globe&Mail recently published an editorial highly critical of Hamas, they referred to a video with a message directed to Israelis:

“We are a nation that drinks blood, and we know that there is no blood better than the blood of Jews. We will not leave you alone until we have quenched our thirst with your blood, and our children's thirst with your blood. We will not leave until you leave the Muslim countries."

Those Islamists tend to recruit the weakest and vulnerable of all. It could be that in her social environment, the suicide bombers are held in high esteem. Thus becoming one herself would restore her lost self-esteem. Crazy thinking, but she's a obviously a disturbed young woman living in a very disturbed part of the world.

A badly burned Palestinian woman was alternately defiant and tearful Monday after Israeli soldiers caught her trying to enter Israel with 22 pounds of explosives hidden on her body. It was then that she tried to set off the belt containing 20lb of explosives hidden beneath her trousers. To her horror, she did not succeed. Desperate, she clawed at her face and rubbing her disfigured neck with her burned hands and screaming. She was still alive, she realised. She had failed her martyrdom mission.

When pepole have no hope of the future, when their unis are closed or they are subjected to curfews and body search in their own streets,when their childern are shot at as they go to school,when their jobs are taken away from them, when their homes are demolished and their lands are confisicated, when a wall devides what little land that they have,when their travels are restricted,when they are demonised as aggresors,when their tax monies is withdrawen from their democraticly ellected government,when they have no controll of their own water, when they have no control of their own borders yes they become a little twisted and as they dont have tanks and aircraft to bomb you the way you bomb them they resort to this kind of self deffence.
