How many warning infractions can one have before one gets banned and can you appeal said infractions via conversation?

There's no limit on the number of warnings you can be given before being banned.

Warnings are reminders of the site posting guidelines. They let you know when you're overstepping the mark into behaviour that may result in a temporary or permanent ban from sciforums.

There's no need to "appeal" a warning, because it has no effect other than to (hopefully) prompt you to modify behaviour that may get you banned if you continue. Having said that, be aware that warnings you receive are notified to all moderators and administrators. Ignore them at your peril, because too many warnings will eventually result in a ban.

If you have questions about a particular warning, I suggest you contact the moderator of the subforum in question, and/or an administrator/supermoderator. General questions can be posted in the Site Feedback subforum.

If you think that a moderator is abusing his or her position by giving you warnings that are unfair, please PM a supermoderator/administrator and they will review your complaint.
