At this moment I am installing Warcraft III on my funky little toy computer. I've only played it once, at a LAN party. It rocks. Happy me. :D

I've just discovered the joys of Starcraft. Guns beat Spears any day

I tried to convince Xev to play it too. I think starcraft is still a better game than warcraft, even though it is 5 years older. The problem with starcraft is too many people cheat. When half of the people cheat, you feel like you have to cheat as well to level the playing field. Those hacks are really annoying. I heard cheaters for warcraft III are prosecuted. For that reason alone I would play warcraft III.

At this moment I am too busy for games. I have to look for a job soon because my current job is expiring.

I still think Starcraft is way too hard

I try the Terrans v Zerg games and I get walked over. I'm usually good at RTS's.

I've played Warcraft 3, I'd only get it for the Starcraft 3D mod thats in development

Dude you just need more practice.

firebats and goliath owns zerglings. Actually goliath owns anything that flies, but valkyrie kills zerg flying units really fast. Tanks in large quantities kill hydralisks. The only thing that would give terran trouble is Ultralisks covered by dark swarm.

Usually what a beginner do wrong when they play starcraft is that they don't have enough workers. The trick is to never stop building workers. Most beginners have like 15, but you really need at least 50-60. If you don't have enough worker, tactics don't matter because you get out numbered. Your command center should be building workers non stop until the game is over. If you take that advice you should do pretty well. If you notice you have too much money, build more factories. Most beginners only build two, but I usually have 6-8 factories when the game is done. You only need two factories with extension to build tanks and upgrades and stuff, the rest you don't need extension because you will just get goliath and vultures.

Thanks for the tips, but I think having 30 workers (15 for Minerals, 5 for Gas and the rest bulidng and repairing) is enough. I like going for the whole 'get as many marines as possible approach'. Even when I get to the unit limit, they still swarm me, I like it when it happens though, like a last stand. It reminds me of either Starship Troopers or Warhammer 40,000 (Space Marines vs Tyranids)

I use my seige tanks properly and keep them covered with at least ten marines each (just in case something burrows next to it).

I have plenty of Missile towers and bunkers full of marines.

Firebats do shit unless in groups of at least 20

Goliaths have pretty weak armour, even after upgrades, but I use 'em purely for the coolness factor

The computers tactic is to get all the minerals. I don't think I could do that as my forces would be spread too thin so I try to slowly destroy each of the enemies outposts one by one with Marines and Seige tanks. Its slow, but it works.

Any more tactics to hand me?

I don't like futuristic games for strategy like that, I prefer a medieval setting for a game like that.

In fact I just don't like that cyberpunk 50 years ahead of the current date stuff. I prefer the dark ages for video games, I have enough of the current reality going on around me. Swords are better than guns, dragons are better than tanks, and magic is better than nukes :D

I'm not really much up for real time strategy. Warcraft 2 was ok; but I didn't like Ages of Empires 2 or Starcraft. I prefer Heroes 3 and Worms myself :p

The basic gameplay behind real time, just hire a bunch of little guys to collect resources, then build up a bigger force to attack - the concept is all the same, and the gameplay is all the same; not very many design decisions (like what to build next will give you the most advantage, or rationing resources).

With turn based there is alot of planning involved, and deep intricate strategic thinking. You can make a mistake you can't reverse, and trap your enemy - with real time you can just literally have your troops run away immediately - with turn based, you feel the rewards of outsmarting your enemy once time has gone by and you can see they have no chance for victory.

I'm in a warcraft 3 clan right now, the Happy Meal Kids, or HMK. My name is HMK_SALAX, and we usually, logically hang out in channel HMK. Message me sometime, any of you.

I haven't played starcraft in months. Online-wise, it's just warcraft 3 for me.

I bought WCIII and love it, but my computer is too slow to play online. Any time you get 3 or more units fighting the fps slows to like 5-10. Gotta wait for my Athlon XP upgrade I guess.

Can't wait to play O.R.B. though, looks like an awesome RTS game, it's been in development for close to 5 years now, it's like Homeworld.
