Demands at work are reducing my time here at SciForums.
As such, we are in need of volunteers to co-moderate, and
I now throw the floor open to nominations and campaign
speeches for those who are interested. You can nominate
another member, but they must accept the nomination to
be included in the voting, which will begin on February 15th.

:m: Peace.

Nominated thus far:

James R.
Adam
Pollux V

Tyler

Is it possible for soemone who's already a mod to be nominated?
If so I nom. JamesR (if he accepts).
Hmmm, the more I look the more this forum seems hard to find a mod for.

Microzoft. That's my other nomination.

What about Adam?

He seems to have lots of time on his hands:D

I'd be up for the job, but I don't think I've been here long enough.
From what I've seen Adam seems like a good choice. I'll second that nomination.

While not a member of long standing, I think that justiceusa or Fraggle Rocker might have the qualities to make an excellent co-mod.

Adam is my vote: He seems level-headed, and will still be around long after Der Rumsfeldmarshall has had most folks like me shot.

James R

I'll accept Tyler's nomination, but I encourage anybody else who's really interested to nominate.

Wet 1 is probably one of the more balanced people here, if he wants to take on a second forum, or James R if he wants to do it.

While I thank you for the nomination, I will refuse it.

I already have 2 forums that I mod. I am not greedy and think that others should have a chance. I also maintain duties elsewhere.

***James, I meant no reflection upon you and I hope you didn't take it that way.***

James R has proven his mettle in Religion, especially in handling Green World. He's fair and impartial, and thus I vote for him.

If not him, Microzoft and/or Squid Vicious (if he's still around) seems a fine candidate.

Adam

Sure, I'll try it out.

I nominate myself. I'll think up a speech later.

My nomination goes to Adam. He is around many times and quite capable of expressing his personal view as well as being objective when required.

In other words, although some members find him difficult and leftish, when it really needs to be, Adam shows good common sense and fairness.

It seems we're beginning to sound Adam-ant.

I vote for James R.
Warren/chroot would also make a good mod

Strange as it might seem -- it certainly seems so to me, at first glance: whereas I think James R would be an excellent choice, and I'd like to see Xev give it a try for that special 'edge' lacking in her prospective peers, I'm leaning toward Adam.

Not only would mod-ing give the gentleman something useful to do with his voluminous time spent here, I'd like to see him actually demonstrate the maturity of a centrist perspective (someplace he seldom ever visits voluntarily) or tragically fail...in plain view.

Either way would be acceptable.

Hey, don't make the mistake of thinking I'm a lefty OR a righty. I'm extreme left on some things, extreme right on others, and that sort of balances out and puts my in the middle - on average. In theory.

In theory.

Either way, the operative adjective is: extreme.

Well, I don't think anyone has given me their support for this, so I'm guessing that I should get my priorities here straight. I have some experience as a moderator already, I feel that I do a reasonably good job over at Scifi (although, admittedly the place doesn't get as much traffic as WE&P). I would never think to let my lefty political views get in the way of conservative posting (which is rare here anyway). I don't have a major problem with some swearing, but a lot of it is unnecessary. If I had a problem with a post, I would give the author of it 24 hours notice via p/m before editing the piece myself and making it satisfactory. While I like Adam and I enjoy reading his thoughts here I found his rampant news-posting unnecessary, and would, like goofyfish did, put it all in one sticky. I've also interacted with James R a little (I'm not sure he replied to the post in philosophy...), and although I may be incorrect, I haven't seen him post in this forum that much.

I would consider any suggestions, as I do when it comes to scifi. Being a sophomore in high school, I have plenty of time on my hands to run this place, as well as the experience, the logic, and the want to do so succesfully for anyone on this website that would be interesting in speaking their mind about the events of the world. Thanks for reading, and, come February 15, vote Pollux V!

Pure genius!! :D

Adam, you may be extreme in certain views, but you'll still be able to mod impartially, yes?

Adam

Pay me and I'll be impartial any way you want. :p

I nominate Mr. G - for the same reason as the above.

Hehe. I am a centrist.

I'm an Independent in an intentional two-party system: I suffer both Democratic and Republican activitists, both liberal and conservative agendas with equal discomfort. My political views cross ideological lines -- though tending to be locally liberal and over-the-horizon conservative.

I'm an atheist: I suffer theologies and their activitists with equal discomfort, and celebrate the freedom of all to choose personal beliefs.

I'm a Darwinist: I suffer all claims of superiority without merit with equal skepticism but realize that even a big, dumb rock can sometimes be good for the species if properly applied to a situation. I understand that life feeds on life but shouldn't to excess but cannot afford not to. Thus, I'm hawkish of necessity.

I'm a realist: We're all bozos on this bus.

I'm a pervert: Umm, let's not go there. (See? Self-deprecating humor, too.)

I'm a relativist: everyone's "center" is different and mine is no less valid a frame of reference as any other.

I'm biased: I like and I dislike.

But what I'm not is a baby-sitter.
