hot Jupiter...possibility of life is totally unlikely. unless there are some extreme mad extreme extremophiles with coolant self generated freon...lolz

Has there ever been an extrasolar planet found that was terrestrial? Or have they all been confirmed to be gas giants like in our outer solar system.

little are known gas giants but most are assumed gas giants because of their mass.
At this momenth there are a couple of good candidates super earth, those can be assumed to be terrestrial.

as far as I can find there are 4 good super earth cadidates to date

Mu arae d at 49,8ly
gliese 876 d&c at 15,3ly
OGLE-2005-BLG-390Lb 6,6kpc

of this gliese 876 c with it's 5 earth masses that lays in it's star habitable zone is the most interesting

There was a multi terrestrial planet system found orbiting a pulsar called PSR B1257+12, discovered in 1992 using the Arecibo radio telescope.
The forth suspected planet was one fifth the size of Pluto.

Position(2000):RA = 13 00 01, DEC = +12 40.0

yeah but I heard it was really hot and kind of massive...that planet PSR B1257+12

anyways which planet is it of the system? obviously not A...so it has to be B or C

Gliese 581 d is sweet candidate for psychrophiles ... its cold there. well sort of

The 4 planets are tiny terrestrial planets, about the size of the Earth and about the size of the moon.

There are 5 planets in the system, most of them are as large as Jupiter

and they are all very hot.

so...:bugeye:

the planet you mention is larger than Jupiter http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WASP-5b and its temperature is 1717 K

Ahh,
i was talking about PSR B1257+12
which is a totally different system to the Wasp 1, 2 , 3 , 4, 5 or Gliese 581 systems ,

PSR B1257+12 was the answer to Star-gazers question `have terrestrial planets been found` - yes,
PSR B1257+12 contains terrestrial planets.

In the PSR B1257+12 system planet A is twice times as large as Earth's moon...planet B is four times as large as Earth...planet C is 4 times as large as Earth

Anyways I would disagree that PSR B1257+12 system would harbor any planets for life because the system is neutron pulsar star emitting extremely high doses of radiation

darn it...I think we should just make our own habitable planet elsewere...and than go look for it.

i think most people realised its not a vacation spot.
