I am a member at another site and they allow votes to be canceled. Perhaps something like that here would be good idea yes?
I picked "yes" and "no". That saves me having to cancel my vote later, should I change my mind. On second thoughts, why isn't there a "giraffes are tall" option?
Oh, now I get it. You mean you can change your answer. I thought you meant that mods can cancel them. My bad. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! I think no. Because when you vote for something you should stick with your decision.
Stick with your decision? Forever and ever? Even after listening to convincing arguments for the "other side"? Hmmm. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
If the other side has cookies I might be persuaded. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
I don't lie but I can be persuaded to bend the truth Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Are those chocolate chip?
At this point it's a software question I'm not sure what this software package allows. We'll have to check with Site Development.
Oh, while you're at it Tiassa, you should check on the status of embedded videos. The Queen is thirsty.
Legal issues, and other useless notes Well, I know YouTube embedding has been available for a few years in the vBulletin software. But beyond that simple answer, there are a number of more complicated considerations. (1) Post quality/format — Will threads simply become arguments of YouTube clips? This would generally be bad for Sciforums; not only would we potentially see a decline in literacy and critical thinking around Sciforums, loading that many YouTube embeds at once will slow down people's systems, and degrade the user experience at Sciforums. (2) Legal issues — I have no idea what the Legal Department would say, but it's probably messy and boring, and probably disappointing in at least some aspect. These are the first two to mind. The first is, obviously, debatable. I'm not sure whether people will have to convince the administration to take up the consideration, or whether the better thing to do would be wait for legal to check in before exploring whether or not embedded video would be a good idea. But the legal aspects will have to be resolved. That, at least, I can tell you without hearing from above. Even if the administration thinks embedded video is a good idea, we would need that overview before we could start developing a site policy.
Yes, indeed, that first one is very debatable. I don't see what the hell legal aspects there would be. I would think that would be up to YouTube to decide, being the ones streaming the video. My poll on the subject.
i answered no, but then i thought it meant removing the option to put polls altogether, which i found funny cuz he's requesting it using a poll..
