I turned my computer on early hours today, and it keeps saying updating 3 of 3 updates, and then it restarts itself and says the same thing all over again.

i have tried, restarting it in safe mode, and then trying to re start it in "last known good log in" and it just doesne make any differance,

any suggestions?

Get this Vista repair disk

1) download this file of disk image
2) burn the iso file on a disk
3) boot from this disk (have the cd inside your computer when you turn it on (make sure the cd run is bootable...if it is not make it)

this is the iso file you need to burn on a cd:
http://mirrors.kernel.org/ubuntu-releases/gutsy/ubuntu-7.10-desktop-i386.iso

I have had a lot of updates with vista these last few days and it would restart without me telling it too. However, once it had finished it worked fine.

what? What have I said wrong? :bugeye: Windows Vista repair disk corrects this problem, I got it from here

http://it.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=08/02/15/1536256

In fact plogistician your link says exactly the same thing I am saying except your link says "Boot from the Vista install media" meanwhile I state that if one does not have this "Vista Install media" than they must burn it from the file of the link I provided. What I have said wrong? How am I not helping?

Don't insult me.

Your link appears to be the install media for Ubuntu.

Get this Vista repair disk

Better yet, get an XP professional install disk and install XP instead.
I've found that removing Vista and installing XP pro is the best fix/update yet.

Dell even has a link on their website so people that bought PCs with Vista that are having problems with it, to download and install XP pro.
Dell actually set this link up on their site because so many people were dissatisified with Vista.
IMO, Vista seems to be the latest incarnate of Windows ME, with better graphics/resolution.

Get it now? You link appeared to be a smart alec 'Install Linux' comment, and as such, was far from helpful. You really do suck at giving advice.

Stop excusing yourself. Imagine the royal fuck up that would have ensued if LA had booted from that disc and installed Ubuntu over her OS thinking it was going to fix her Vista problem.

Just stop giving advice, it's best.

screw you.

Oh please, leave your ego out of this.

Here's an example of the quality advice you gave to diagnose an electrical short;

buy a voltimeter and choose a random spot on wire...cut it...have some small voltage generator on the other end somewhere...measure the voltage....and see if there are any differences. But otherwise go and let the professionals do it

Since when did a methodical, problem solving approach utilise random selection?

Since when do you fix Vista by downloading a Ubuntu iso?

Like I said, just stop offering advice. Cease. Desist. Just you shutting up will benefit society.

you cease and desist, phlogistician. It is you who is egoist. I offer unique suggestions, if this does not suit you, keep silent. Otherwise shut the fuck up.

Unique suggestions that are wrong, and potentially damaging. It's you that is the egotist, thinking your advice has merit.

Here's what you do:

1. Locate Bill Gates.

2. Apply one hand to his throat and another to his nut sack.

3. Squeeze alternately and rhythmically until he agrees to put everyone back on XP2.

4. Enjoy saluations and adoration of world.
