The paper said it obtained the footage from a "whistleblower"

Pictures from a video allegedly showing British soldiers brutally beating a group of Iraqi teenagers have been published by the News of the World.

The footage appeared to show soldiers dragging youths and kicking them.

A military spokesman in Iraq condemned "all acts of abuse and brutality" by British troops, saying the allegations related to a "tiny number" of soldiers.

The Royal Military Police are probing the incident, which the newspaper said happened in southern Iraq in 2004.

On the tape, described as a "secret home video", an unidentified cameraman is heard laughing and urging his colleagues on. It was apparently filmed for fun by a corporal.

What we are seeing is the media handing over mega bucks, so americans & brit soldiers stage beatings on camcorders to sell to our media.

The american soldiers recently sold there private pictures of saddam in his underwear to the british newspapers.

I would take pictures from cnn or bbc of beatings more serious than sodiers home videos to make a quick buck, in this latest one the soldier camerman urges on the attacks making sure he has a quality abuse video.

These cunt soldiers, are putting other soldiers lives at risk, just so they can buy a porsche, it should be made illegal for newspapers & tv to give money to these renagade troops, as they are just encouraging more staged attacks, that are costing british & american soldiers lives, and discrediting our armies, judas soldiers need weeding out, if they want to be a movie actor, get out of iraq & fuck off too hollywood...

Those muslims are bad bad people for violently protesting the sacriligeous cartoons against their faith.

Nothing at all like us sophisticated British people who are never violent.



According to the News of the World, which is Britain's best-selling Sunday newspaperthe, the fuzzy video showed the troops dragging four young protesters off a street and into an army compound where they were punched, kicked and hit with batons.

It claimed the cameraman could be heard laughing and saying: "Oh yes! Oh Yes! You're gonna get it. Yes, naughty little boys. You little f…, you little f…. Die. Ha Ha."

British Prime Minister Tony Blair's Labour government would have to come up with something "pretty dramatic and very quick" in response, Corbyn said.

"It's not one-off, it's not isolated, it's not in detention, it's a group of soldiers attacking an individual for whatever reason in a very brutal manner," he added.

If by any chance you have been paying the slightest bit of attention, you will have noticed that a majority of the British public are horrified by these acts.

I could harp on about how easy it would be to stage such a thing, you can buy anything they use out there online at a reasonable price. But I'm not, these things happen. These things have happened for years and have always happened where there is conflict and tension. I'm not defending what these people did but I'm saying that this happens whereever there is conflict. So before you go on tarring the British forces with the whole "violent" brush, stop and think. These things happen in pretty much every warzone there has ever been. And this is not something that is something that just happens in conflicts. These things happen in the streets of our cities daily, it's just this time the people doing it were wearing uniform and beating up teenagers and there is some evidence to find out what happened.

I'm not sure why they were doing it, they might have a reason. There were probably better ways to go about the matter but for this group of people that certainly was not the case at the time. And with evidence like this, it is safe to assume that these men will be punished much in the same way the people who abused the Iraqi prisoners and took photos of them were.

One thing that is for certain, our lads in Iraq are on edge at the moment. They know that that has been printed in the papers and gone public and they're anxious about an attack on them soon. As you said, if this is staged it has put a lot of our men at great risk. Even if it isn't staged, it still puts the lads who would never do such a thing in potential danger.

 

It was made 2 years ago, so the troops that sold out to hollywood, are probably back safley in the UK or in hollywood, which makes them even bigger twats, they know there will be deaths over this, but they wait until they are out of there, before the shit hits tha fan.

But is modern warfare these days all about bad apple soldiers taking there camcorder with them, to make mega bucks on the side, in my view soldiers should not be allowed to take camcorders or cameras into war, this is not a packaged holiday trip, & every incident of abuse so far, has been from these parasite soldiers feeding off there friends, for quick bucks.

The only abuse pictures i can take serious are ones the tv news networks take, as there is no money involved here, the rest are all staged for financial gain.

I had no idea this was done over two years ago. For one, if this was not staged they have more valid reasons to be doing that as it was still war. But the claims that it was staged seem to hold some truth and, as you say, the people that did it are now at home having finished their 6 month tour. Either way, I hope an investigation uncovers something about it. With a media outcry like this the government will have no choice but to order one.

And you are quite correct again. No-one outside of the middle east (with the exception of the US) actually gives a flying patooi about Israel and these people need to see that. Righty, found out some more things about this. Apparently this was not staged. The men in the video were involved in some of the fiercest fighting the UK forces had come across and had just endured day after day of having stones and petrol bombs thrown at them. They are apparently the same men that were part of the Warrior convoy that met the business end of a few molotov cocktails and saw their mates bailing out while covered in flames. So these men were just a tad frustrated.

Now, people will say that stones won't harm a protected soldier. Wrong. Soldiers in Iraq have been injured by some very well placed stones being thrown and slung at them.

More to the point, a grenade could have easily been thrown by an over zealous protester so making an example out of a select few individuals might have seemed the best course of action at the time. Also, it may be worth noting that they are each using riot batons.

But, the cameraman seems to be taking an overly perverse pleasure in this. Maybe this is his reaction to the frustration of the weeks beforehand or maybe he's just got a screw loose. We don't know. But it is claimed an arrest has been made in regards to this.

 

Yes, they were frustrated. They are learning the same thing Saddam learned: that to maintain control over Iraq requires ruthless brutality (not that there's anything right about it). Anyone who thinks this is staged is neck deep in bullshit. I bet this kind of thing happens way too often, and the private contrators (mercinaries) have even less oversight or accountability. Remember that video of mercinaries shooting drivers at random to the tune of Elvis' Mystery Train? Those British soldiers should never have been put in that position, the whole Iraq endeavor is impossible to win.

 

Aye, this is true. Most of what happens in war never gets told at all. With war becoming a heavily covered event in the media, such things the public never knew happened are now surfacing and shocking them. No-one ever said killing other people was like tea and biscuits.

I would not say the Iraq endevour is impossible to win, I'd say the hardest fight there is to win over the people. That was something the British forces out there had succeeded in doing to an extent (wearing berets instead of helmets to show trust as an example).

Unless any of us are put into a situation like they were, we really cannot form an accurate opinion of this action at all until a proper investigation has taken place. Even then it's safe to assume extremists will take any positive outcome as a coverup.

British public is indeed horrified by this action, mainly because of the terrible way the media has blurted out the story with little to no facts at all. All they saw was a video of some soldiers beating on some teens.

And if you had been paying attention, the British public has been pressuring a withdrawal from Iraq since the damned invasion began. Both the US and UK government ignored facts placed in front of them and the British public knew this and there was outrage for a while. The governments of both nations were adament that an invasion was going to take place and they were going to do it regardless.

So, before you get on your high horse and spout this verbal diarrhoea at me get your facts in check. With the media rushing into this story without all the facts, there are a bunch of crazies out there making false assumptions about this.

As far as i am aware nobody got paid for the pictures of the american soldier miss england pointing at the genitals of prisoners, these pictures were confiscated at the airport, so these abuse pictures are real.

Agreed. They obviously recieved this video and were too busy trying to get a decent story out of this they didn't bother with the facts. This is what happens a lot and good names are often tarnished because of impatience and the urge to sell as many papers as possible. The soldiers had stones, petrol bombs and mortars lobbed their way. They were subduing an aggressive crowd. What are they gonna do, sit back and take it? Those kids were lucky those men were trained and didn't open fire.

I have spoken no BS at all. I have gone around and gathered facts. I have watched many variations of the incriminating video and each one leads me to the same conclusion. These men were defending themselves from an aggressive crowd. The only thing I saw that was out of line was one kicking a restrained captive in the balls. Their blows with the batons were aimed at the legs, no-where that would seriously hurt them.

Alright then, bring it on. Also, while you're at it you might want to start with the various police officers around the world who have taken part in aggressive riot control. These teens were trying to fight the soldiers, are they supposed to stand there and take it? If I came up to you and started punching you, would you just stand there and take it? No, of course not. I would expect you to defend yourself and fight back to at least a stage where I would not be able to punch you any more.
