Wow, I really have a passion for video slots. They are in nearly every drinking establishment in my state, so it's hard to avoid them. I'm fortunate in that I don't spend a lot of money on them, but it could be very easy to dump a ton of cash into these things. I have a friend who took out a $10,000.00 loan, much of it finding its way into the video slots. And I've seen people feeding these machines 50's and 100's. I just don't know where they get their money.

I'm not certain what the attraction is for me, but I do feel more relaxed and more focused while playing video slots--I feel good, like an addict on a fix. Nonetheless, I always set a limit ($20.00) and rarely spend more than that

Soo.. Is it a form of addiction for you? We know others are addicted to gambling, but is this what you wish to discuss?

Video slots?!?! I HATE video slots. I hate their look (cheesy), the people sitting in front of them (desperate), the noise they make (annoying), and the animation they use to give people the illusion like they just did something when they push the pretty buttons (retarded). They remind me of a souped up version of scratchys. I know someone who looses about $15,000 a year on those idiotic slots.

What should happen is you put in your cash and the machine doesn't do anything other than pump some money out or nothing comes out. Done and Done. A nondescript black box with a money slot for bills and a dispenser at the bottom. It calculated the odds of you randomly winning and out comes some money or not.

Sorry Bowser but my advice is to find a video game on iPad or something and play that when you want something to do at the pub. Then you can surf over to Sciforums... the real addiction

Also, $20 a hit a few times a week is over $1000 a year. Enough to buy a new TV and Playstation 3

Or fly to somewhere fun. I just got cheap tickets to Japan (probably due to the radiation sickness I'll have to endure). Only cost me like $199 dollars

My husband spends a lot of time on them as well. Thankfully it is only on facebook so no money is spent.

How many times a week are you spending only $20?

Oh, maybe once a week--if I have the money. Last week I won $80.00 after feeding the machine a $5.00. And I think that's the thing, occasionally you win. When I first started playing these machines, I was doing pretty well--$100.00 here, $200.00 there. But the fact is you end up putting more money in over time than you ever get back out. I do think I'm addicted, but I seem to have it under control. I want to hit one of our local casinos and try their machines one of these days. I'm getting bored with the games available in the bars and taverns.

Here's a link for your husband...

    Free Casino Games

I've played every one of them. It's fun but not quite the same.

    thanks Bowser.
There is a casino about 20 min from us. If he wants to play for money we go there and make an evening of it.

and I see nothing wrong with what you do. My husband spends over $2000 a year on cigarettes

Your husband and I have some things in common: we both like slots and we both smoke.

I bet when he started smoking, the price of a pack of smokes was less than 50 cents.

    Let's see... I spend $36.00 per carton each week. 52 X $36.00 = $1872.00.

    When I first started, a carton was about $5.00. 52 X $5.00 = $260.00.

A lot has changed since we were new smokers. I blame mostly the taxes that are levied on tobacco. It never ends.

It's funny because my wife always reminds me of my expenditures on tobacco and gambling. I can't argue her points because we don't have much money, and everything costs so much more now. :bawl:

I would never use my credit card for gambling. I really enjoy the slots, but I have my limits. My friend at work makes a weekly trip to the local casino with his wife. They seem to keep their limit to around $150.00. I've been to one of the local casinos, but I wasn't impressed by what they offered, so I need to look at some of the others. Years ago I would make an annual drive to Reno (the poor man's Vegas) and role the dice for a couple of days. With all of the casinos in our state, it just doesn't seem worth the effort to drive down to Nevada, but part of the fun was the drive because I often stopped on the way and went fishing.
