Thanks to all of my brothers and sisters who have served and are serving in the military, I salute you all. This is a day to honor those who have given their all for the rest of America to be free. When I See an Eagle Marie Frankson When I see an eagle, I see a great nation which has been founded on the principles of equality and freedom for all. When I see an eagle, I see our flag flying high. I see happy children playing and smiling and laughing and singing. When I see an eagle, I see a melting pot of blacks and Hispanics, Italians and Indians, Native American and Irish which make up our country. When I see an eagle, I see no more bondage, no more terrorism, ethnocentrism, racism, and hate. When I see an eagle, I see our troops fighting for what is right, fighting to keep us free. When I see an eagle, I see America standing tall and strong and proud behind her servicemen and women. When I see an eagle, I salute and say a silent prayer of thanks for the troops who protect us. It is the Soldier Father Dennis Edward O'Brien It is the Soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of press. It is the Soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer, who gives us freedom to demonstrate. It is the Soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag.
Totally agree and along wih your eagle, I look at the ANZACs which make me feel proud to be Australian.
Ah yes, thank you veterans, we owe it to you all to show us the way Warning - the following picture of Abu Graib may be offensive to some viewers: http://www.bloggerheads.com/abu_ghraib/iraq_torture_01.jpg
That's pathetic SAM Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Those scumbags were dealt with and the vast majority of veterans would cringe at those abuses even through all they've witnessed and done in the name of war.
Not really, the camps are still functional and those detainees still prisoners. Hardly call that cringing.
Cringing by other vets, most of which are not with us anymore and I would venture, most people too. I have a feeling with the the new US administration, that the Bay ain't going to be there all that long anyways.
Doesn't change what was done to them by US troops. And US troops are still in their countries, doing more of the same. If the Taliban were thanking the 9/11 terrorists and held a national day to commemorate them, how would you feel?
...and the mere fact that you can say so is because of what has transpired. Its not all about American vets, mostof which I wouldwager do not do all these things. Read the book, its not armies of assassins, but a mere handful.
The problem with that image SAM is that it is very one sided. Show me a perfect army? It does not exist. Show me something comperable from the other side. Show me how other prisoners are treated (non-US). There is no perfection here or anywhere else. I dare say when you look at the big picture the United States is if not the best, certianly one of the best in the way it treats prisoners. The bottom line is war is not pretty...crimes and accidents are commited on all sides. War is humanity at its worst and at its finest. It is not all one way SAM. Perfection does not exist on earth.
same derails another thread. way to go chump. to all the veterans of the planet, sam epitomizes what you have fought against. i also thank you for your sacrifices.
Here's a beheaded Muslim that was beheaded by another Muslim that was in Saddams Hussiens army. Warning - the following image shows a beheading: http://sheikyermami.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/nick-berg-beheading-pic-9-warning-graphic.jpg
Sam, You can no longer ever accuse me of 'dropping turds' into a thread, as you have done just the same. Thanks for ruining yet another thread with your Anti-American bullshit.
I served my country as a soldier in the USArmy. I like to think Fort Drum and Watertown, NY was just a little safer thanks to me. Sadly, I never got the opportunity to torture prisoners. I didn't personally believe in civilian prisoners. They were innocent civilians, or targets. I should have re-enlisted when the opportunity presented itself. I would have done my part to make sure that there weren't any of these abuses. I would have just shot them. I know, I would have been vilified for it, but oh well. I wonder, Sam, are you happy to be allowed to live in a country where such images are not considered illegal? That the police aren't rounding foreigners up and placing them in internment camps. The awful US has done that sort of thing before, you know. On a different note, should we respond to this by attacking your nationality's or your religion's foibles? I'm undecided. Most Americans realise that the freedoms that they enjoy are protected by soldiers. That soldiers are trying to do the right thing and follow orders to serve the national good. Mistakes are made. This is a day set aside for remembering the good things soldiers have done. I don't guess you're familiar with any of those, however.
