View Full Version : Very lucky dude.... cosmictraveler 08-28-07, 08:10 PM http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=6e4_1188309133 It looked like he was decapitated. draqon 08-28-07, 08:55 PM yeah the blades are supposed to be fired off by a small forced area explosion before the ejection...anyways the guy was lucky for sure...perhaps it is also the reason why he wasn't decapitated or sliced is because the helicopter never lifted...because the blades really did not have that much power in them he was saved. francois 08-28-07, 09:16 PM Is this really worthy of it's own thread? cosmictraveler 08-28-07, 09:18 PM A man that had his head taken off! Why surely you jest. draqon 08-29-07, 12:48 AM Is this really worthy of it's own thread? everything in this world that exists deserves its own place to exist. As for discussion, nothing hurts to discuss, that which is on our minds. cosmictraveler 08-29-07, 06:42 AM I would have asked, and now do, why wasn't the pilot seat belted into the seat of the craft???? Oli 08-29-07, 06:48 AM yeah the blades are supposed to be fired off by a small forced area explosion before the ejection No, see later. ...anyways the guy was lucky for sure...perhaps it is also the reason why he wasn't decapitated or sliced is because the helicopter never lifted...because the blades really did not have that much power in them he was saved. Not "ejected" as in "ejection seat", "ejected" as in "thrown out". There's only one helicopter in the world that currently operates with the rotor blade/ pilot ejection system at the moment and that's the Ka-50 series. I would have asked, and now do, why wasn't the pilot seat belted into the seat of the craft???? In the early days of aviation it tended to to be flat caps and no seat belts. That looked like an early (US) Sikorsky model, probably sometime in the late 30s or 40s. Muslim 08-29-07, 12:31 PM http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=6e4_1188309133 It looked like he was decapitated. So you idea of being lucky is getting your ass pinned in a helicopter propeller? :bugeye: draqon 08-29-07, 12:34 PM No, see later. Not "ejected" as in "ejection seat", "ejected" as in "thrown out". There's only one helicopter in the world that currently operates with the rotor blade/ pilot ejection system at the moment and that's the Ka-50 series. That's what I was talking about the Kamov's Black shark helicopters' ability to do so. Hey Oli...maybe you know, there is like this helicopter that has its blades intertwined on a path, so the two blades atop a helicopter are tilted sideways facing in different direction and tilted each away from each other...and the blades path cross the same air space but because of the different frequencies of the blade rotations they never meet...what heli is that? Oli 08-29-07, 01:53 PM That's what I was talking about the Kamov's Black shark helicopters' ability to do so. Chornoye Akula - beautiful :thankyou: Hey Oli...maybe you know, there is like this helicopter that has its blades intertwined on a path, so the two blades atop a helicopter are tilted sideways facing in different direction and tilted each away from each other...and the blades path cross the same air space but because of the different frequencies of the blade rotations they never meet...what heli is that? Kaman HH-43 Huskie maybe that you're thinking of? draqon 08-29-07, 01:59 PM Kaman HH-43 Huskie maybe that you're thinking of? yeah that's it, amazing. cosmictraveler 08-29-07, 04:09 PM So you idea of being lucky is getting your ass pinned in a helicopter propeller? :bugeye: My idea is that he was lucky he DIDN'T get his head cut off by those blades. |
