View Full Version : Utopia, God/The Bible, the end of time
List0ric 10-01-05, 01:35 AM Utopia
I am a daydreamer, I go to the forest often (which is pretty close to my
hometown) when i'm there I mostly just sit around and think about what the
world could be and all..
Just the other day I dreamed away, my dream was about my Utopia. The
Place I'd like to be, a Happy place, a good place..
It looked like this: (I'll try to describe it as good as possible)
in Utopia its perfect, everything’s perfect.. and so on.. my utopia was a
place, a small village, build of bricks and wood.. no metal, .. Its small as I
said, its surrounded by woods and very small sandy roads.. Everyone lives
peacefully in harmony with the nature and each other and there are millions of
those small city's all over the world. Travelers can stay for the night and
they'll get a bed, and food because the people in my utopia are kind, and
sharing people
It was something like that. Let me know what you think of it, and/or post
your own Utopian thoughts..
God/The Bible
I was just watching an animation movie yesterday (I believe the name
was "Prince of Egypt"). The Movie is about Moses, he first lives as the prince
of Egypt, he had a brother prince .. Rameses, Anyway.. one day he finds out
that he's not really a prince from Egypt. He was found in the water, lying in a
small wooden basket. Well anyway, he leaves his 'home' and travels thru the
dessert, what he finds is the place he wants to be, happy and all.
One day god speaks to him and tells him to save his people, the Jews.
He goes back to Egypt and tries several things to save the slaves (Jews)
from the torn of Rameses. Nothing works so he/God punishes the
Farao and the other rich people of Egypt with the Staff.
Later on he manages to get the Jews away from Egypt. But All of the sudden
an army of the Farao appears behind them, he splits open the sea
and they all flee away from the army.
Read the bold pieces of what I've been writing. The whole movie told me that
the Bible, and its great 'stories' about Jesus and all, are not just fiction as a
lot of people think back here in the Netherlands.. I do not believe in God, but
I think God does exist, I'll explain myself later. First I want to tell you that
- in my opinion - the bible has just been written to teach us the true value of
life, to teach it what we should really do with life.
Now, "I do not believe in God, but I do think he exists". That's a strange
sentence, is it not? Well.. I think God is in your heads, in our heads, I think
God is the voice we all want to hear so badly when we have problems. You
know, the helping hand without he's there. I do not believe in the God above
the clouds.. I do not pray. I believe in the voice you hear when things are
going wrong. Your inner self. For some reason as it is, our inner voices, our inner selves, are connected...
The end of Time
I was just reading a post on this forum, and saw a post about time, about
the present and past. And someone asked whether time would some day end,
or if it was endless..
I say we (the people) have created time, we have created past and future,
we've given all of the things a name, including everything which has
something to do with time, we made up time.. to make life easier on us. So, I
think time ends at the exact point we end.
Living our busy life's we need time to control it. Even you and I are using
time for our own purpose, saying "I'm 18years old" means it has something to
do with time, its like, in almost every sentence we say.. we use time.
"I went to the movies yesterday" "Shall we go to the movies tomorrow?" ..
you could go on for millions of seconds and all..
Reply to what I wrote if you want to, I just felt like sharing this stuff with you guys ;)

A song that will never be sung,
so melodic so beautiful the heart does sigh
A poem that will never be posed,
so rhythmic so profound
A word that will never be spoken
so full of meaning that it makes you cry
An answer so wanted
but never be found
A feeling that will never be felt
so strong so intense
A love that will never come to you
so sweet so full
A future that is always there
an adventure so immense
A curiosity that is never quenched
A heat that never will cool
There is no better way
as none have shown
How to keep our noses to the wind
and our eyes beyond
There is always something
that can never be done
A game that can only be played
and never lost or won

HI LisOric....heres my views on utopia, God nd time
'Utopia' was an idea of Plato's....i cant stand Plato. i tink he was an aristocratic fascist who proliferated his version of a dualistic philosophy.....which has done lots of har with its influence over the centuries
I always retreat for the idea of 'perfection'--ie., of some idylic 'utopia' that s all pureness adlight. it only exists in pwrfectionists heads, and as soon as you posit 'perfect' then you see imperfect everywhere and want to eradicate it....think of the nazis and their cpncept of 'pure Aryan blood'...!!
Nature actually eats itself.....many isms fear Nature and want to escape to some idylic utopia beit heaven, or a 'spiritualized' Earth Nature. but they all dismiss the Intelligence of Nature AS IT IS. so for me insight is learning the Intelligence of Nature sos we can live WITH it rather tan try and destroy it through ignorance
........about your idea of God. why not. many peoplehafe their own feelings. some call it their 'higher power'.....for me i alwys like us to remember GODDESS. i feel that the cocept of 'God' came OUT of the much more ancinet and pimal concept of a Goddess who was both Nature's Body AND transcendence.....thng wit 'God' isnthe tem's loaded. it gives images of some jralous war mongering maniac from the OT...who is abover Nature--its architect. so there is no deep visceral feel for 'him'.....as you said it is usually 'in the head'/..the sexual erootic ecstaitc part of us is kinda of made to feel guilty about....
and Time........i blieve there is both chronological time and psychplogical time. fpor example , a sun dial will track the sun.....there is day and night etc. so there relly IS time. but there is also a psychological experience of time. IF it becomes mechanaical then the eternal sense is lost
List0ric 10-02-05, 12:37 AM Everything's ok with that, only the thing with time.. its, .. yeah there's this Sun.. day and night, but are we not the ones who have given it all a name, are we not the ones who've calculated how long it takes to become night, and day?
Everything's ok with that, only the thing with time.. its, .. yeah there's this Sun.. day and night, but are we not the ones who have given it all a name, are we not the ones who've calculated how long it takes to become night, and day?
oh yes, we are te calculatorw supreme. we also know death is coming dont we, which adds to the drama of knowing time
but other animals also track rthe sun's position, and the stars etc. it's just that withwestern man particularly it's all got a bit over the top. tey grid all flowing reality through a err grid, even the sea.....handy mayb, but what this over-emphasis on ratio-naility tends to do is cut off reason from FEELING
List0ric 10-03-05, 08:31 AM ur absolutely right,.. what do you believe in? God? A Matrix? Nothing? :) just let me know.. :P

Well, we all have our ideas of utopia. Yours wouldn't be mine. I would take into consideration natural disasters, such as forest fires, hurricanes, tornados, etc. If you qualified your idea of perfection, then maybe these wouldn't be an issue.
Utopia, in my mind, would be man in the state of perfection, that is, non-lacking in human nature, fulfilled both in degrees of achievement and degrees of satisfaction dependant upon the degree of advancement attained by the individual. Each person would have total control both over his mind and his will. There would be need neither for technology, nor tools of any kind (including language). Nothing would be done out of need, only out of the desire for and pleasure of self advancement.

The "God above the clouds" myth is just that, myth. It is a widely accepted Christian belief (among Christians that is) that God is not a "sky-god," as some people think, but rather something else entirely. One of the qualities attributed to the Christian God is omnipresence. The implication of a "sky-god" is that he lives up in the sky, and not here on earth. If this were true, then no Christian could rightly say God was omnipresent. The common idea of a "god" is something of a superhuman man. This comes from the ancient religions of Mesopotamia, Egyptian Mythology, Greek and Roman Mythology, Hinduism, and so forth. "Gods" in these ancient systems of belief were generally merely elevated humans, usually with superhuman powers. However, in monotheistic religions, such as Judaism, Christianity, and Hinduism, there is a single, all-powerful deity, who is not human at all, and is beyond humans in every way. In both Christianity and Hinduism, this single Godhead is a Trinity (Hinduism: Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva; Christianity: Father, Son, Holy Ghost), three aspects or persons, but one single being, God. In Christianity, this God is omnipresent, omnibenevolent, omnipotent, omnijust, omniscient, eternal, infinite, pure act, among other things. He is not considered in any way human (just as the single Godhead in Hinduism is not. Though Hinduism does have many gods, these other gods are referred to with the lower-case "g" are denote elevated humans, like saints), nor anything mortal, or constrained.
The Bible is primarily a book about humanity. Most people think it is a book about God, but it is actually not. Many scriptural themes concern the relationship between humanity and God, but all of what happens in scripture normally happens because of how humans act. Many of the supernatural, or even natural occurances in the Bible are attributed to God, but the reason for these occurances always rest with human action. So you are very right in saying that the Bible is a book to teach us what we ought to do in life. More specifically, it is a book that was compiled to elucidate what actions we ought to see as good and what we ought to see as evil; what will bring us happiness, health and prosperity, and what will bring us to destruction.

We measure time, we do not create it, nor can we control it. Just as we have measured distance, so too have we not created, nor control it. Now is a result, and a cause. The past is a chain of causes and effects that resulted in what exists now, and the future is a chain of effects, causes and effects that result from what exists now and has existed priorly. If time was non-existent, then existence would be static and unchanging. Evidently, this is not the case. We, however, in measuring time as specifically as we do, and set deadlines for our actions, us time as a tool of production. Some of us allow time to run our lives, instead of it being a tool of our own use. However, that we have measured it, and use it (or allow ourselves to be used by it), does not in any way mean that we created it. In fact, that we measured it means implicitly that it was a reality before any human mind realized it.
ur absolutely right,.. what do you believe in? God? A Matrix? Nothing? :) just let me know.. :P
i would define 'the matrix' thus. it is the semantic reality overlayed by conceptual humans over a deeper reaity they are not attuned to-----which o course becomes consensus, and then is oppressive...VERY...for tose who dont want that. teones who DO cant seeit!!!!!!!!! !
tereis the rub, and they actually blame NATURE, not their petty intelects. hows that for nerve??
so whatis 'God'...well its no whatthe intellectuls have created for sure. it is some ting deeper than deep. it gives constant birth to deep intelf, and is unfathomable. we ARE it, but that doesn't mean we are 'gods'....dont know what we are. a spectrum of dynamic potential maybe a good intro
List0ric, you're smokin' things that ain't healthy....
