MZ3Boy84 11-29-07, 10:36 PM I believe that we as members should be given the right to close our own threads. If I start a thread that gets trolled and/or becomes useless, I as the creator of that thread should have the option to close it myself without having to go through moderators.
if such was in effect: many would create threads...than close them when unsuitable replies appear...and hashish* to the discussion
I agree to some extent. The main arguement against that however would be the power to close a thread upon bias terms... like closing it with your word as the last word.
But on the whole, i agree we should have that power.

No offense to the mod's, but there have been cases when a thread gets ABSOLUTELY out of control and it takes the mod's an extended period of time to get around to it to close it. Its not because they are slacking or whatever, its simply because like normal human beings, most of us have a life outside of this forum.
invert_nexus 11-29-07, 10:41 PM Generally speaking, if you ask the moderator of the forum to close your thread, they will oblige you.
Reiku and Draqon have both made valid points why one should request a mod close the thread rather than the thread creator having that power directly.

wrong.
the first time someone posts something that wrangles you you'll scream "TROLL!!!" and close the thread.
this is a very bad idea.

No... there is a difference between sharing ones side, even if one doesn't agree with it, and randomly posting completely unrelated bulls**t.
...who gets to choose whats a "disagreement" and "completely unrelated b****t"" exactly?
huh? you?
The mods have been very quick recently in either moving threads or closing them. I myself have had enough of that kind of behaviour. I'll be very careful not to post anything in places were mods or a mod in the future can take advantage and simply remove without just cause.

...like where? The Cesspool?
Reiku: there is always a cause
A moderator is always right. They gained power from their statistical show of being able to not abuse that power in societal conversations.
Also, MZ3, the answer to your question is here http://sciforums.com/showthread.php?t=74321.

No. Psuedoscience. The mods in charge are very bad in determining what is a psuedoscience, and what is plain science.

use the report button.
if you are fair in using it the mods will listen.
because of a fluke in the software i, and a few others, have seen how the report button works. a mod cannot simply ignore it because it starts a thread in the super secret moderator forum.

That could certainly be argued and challenged.

is there seriously a secret mod forum?

If that means you'll no longer post in moderated forums, more power to you. That works out great for everybody. :p
leopold99 11-29-07, 11:01 PM is there seriously a secret mod forum?
yes.
MZ3Boy84 11-29-07, 11:01 PM yes.
I wonder what/who they talk about lol.
leopold99 11-29-07, 11:04 PM I wonder what/who they talk about lol.
i have inquired but got no straight answers.
We swap recipes. 'How to cook members'.. The pasta dishes are quite delish I must admit.
Anywho..
We tend to discuss any issues that may arise in the forums.

I dunno...
I heard they gained power by having a shitload of posts and thick kneepads.
Ahem.
I have neither a "shitload of posts" (god I've been here since 2001 and my posts are pitifully low compared to others of my era:o), nor do I have "thick kneepads".:p
I personally gained power by hypnotising the mods over the internet...
:m:
Look into the leaf.. Look deeeeeppllyyyyyy.. Deeepppeerrrrrr... You are now under my control... Look deeeeepppllyyyyyy...
Lol... First laugh you've got out of me in ''a shitload of time''...

Killjoy 11-30-07, 04:02 PM That or just knowing what the hell it is we're talking about.
Given a Universe which contains the potential for almost infinite possibilities, I suppose one must consider that even the most far-fetched concepts might contain some vague iota of validity...
:blbl:

Paraquat.
But of course...
Do you recall that brief interval during the "war on drugs" when the forces of sobriety believed they could use the stuff to wipe out pot farms ?
did I just get that right? Bells wants Killjoy to have sex with her?
Doesn't everyone - no matter how much they may loathe themselves for it, and thus pretend otherwise ?
LoL !
I always wanted a toyboy I could dress as GI Joe.

MZ3Boy84 11-30-07, 07:13 PM Ever talk about me in this super secret forum?
It wouldn't be a secret if we told you.:p
The moderation forum is where moderators can discuss any issues that may arise in the forums, for example, spammers that frequent this site from time to time.
Stryder 12-02-07, 04:15 PM It's funny how people always think the Moderators secret forum is about plotting against the sciforums members, they tend to neglect we have bigger things to fry.
