Hey! I'm doing an investigation for Higher Maths. I have this "1^k + 2^k + 3^k + 4^k + ... + n^k = (insert answer)" So yea, i need the answer so i can work backwords to work out a formula. Does anyone know the answer? if so could you please let me know straight away. Or if not, maybe direct me somewhere that I could find the answer? Thanks a lot Rob
It's a k+1 degree polynomial in n. You can use Euler-Maclaurin summation to determine the coefficients. See http://mathworld.wolfram.com/FaulhabersFormula.html and http://mathworld.wolfram.com/PowerSum.html for more info.
