Because I'm an evil bastard: http://www.collegehumor.com/video:1774935
This is an old Microsoft ad. Guaranteed to make your brain bleed.

That was just evil. And I'm not talking "evil". I mean "eeeee-villll" the way that Mike Meyers says it.

What about evil the way that Michael Myers DOES it?

Years ago were you heavily influenced by that advert or have you been locked in a cupboard for the past 20 years?

Let's just say a 3 am with a 2003 server completely tits up and lacking the proper dos helpfiles it is easier to reach for a good ol dos 5 manual than to run around and boot up a client PC and fuck around finding the right command in dos.

Can you believe that a chkdsk /f /r/ i command can still save a company a week's worth of work? fuk I hate Microsoft so much. Fact is, no matter how fancy the B.S M$ desktop gets, it's STILL the same old 20 year old shit at the base level.

lol, I don't totally understand what you are on about, but you have got a good point here. With MS always looking for backwards compatibility I guess things can't change drastically.

Do you think MS will ever do a start from scratch os? They have done it with direct x10.

I could go in more detail, but I won't, it will remind me I stayed up all night for not even a fukin salt lick in compensation....%#@ too late.

DX10 is not a start from scratch...well ok if it was, then so was DX9. We USED to get that shit for free when there was competition (open GL).

No, never. Ever.

No PC should be without it.

Microsoft Vista is from scratch, the CORE kernel. Sure, some bits and pieces were taken from the old kernel....WHY reinvent the wheel when the wheel is already reinvented.

Basically, they are making a new pizza but they used some of the dough left over from an old pizza. It's faster, it's dough that is stable and you know it's good, you know what to expect.

The dough also contains BUGS.

It's also bloody hard to work with - writing video drivers, for example, for vista is many, many more times difficult than for XP.
