Upgrade CPU on laptop

I got a NV55s03u before the NV55s04u came out but I was interested in swapping the CPU from the A4-3300M to a A8-3530MX for the graphics boost. Metro 2033 plays barely but I think with that it would run much better. What do you guys think?

No guides exist on how to open this laptop, would I need to disassemble it ALL or could I just take the keyboard out and gain access to the CPU and heatsink? Anyways what're your thoughts on this.

taking apart laptops is often an involved process. Doesn't mean it's impossible, but you'll likely have to take everything apart to get at the CPU socket.

I agree with tHE j0KER on all points; and since you're not already familiar with taking a laptop apart, you may end up with a dead machine if you try.

waste of time in my experience. often you will find that hardware cooling is built to spec. ie if it originally ran a 45w cpu its likely to only be able to cool a 45w cpu as it stands your current cpu is 35w and the 1 you want to add is 45w. now you can compensate some by investing in the best thermal paste but its likely it still wont be enough to stop the cpu maxing the thermal capacity of the cooler and either start throttling thus negating the upgrade or worse still die on you.

seriously m8 it could well be more hassle and cost than its worth.
if you want upgrade-ablility then desktop is your only real option even a small space sever super mini atx would give more upgrade options than a laptop.

as it stands there made so cheaply that the manufacturers prefer to get you to buy a new 1 than upgrade an old. so much so they design the laptops to only last a year to 18 months...

What about an A8-3500 that has a 35 TDP just like the A4-3300M

Either way I'm not willing to try opening this laptop until someone posts their guide or until I decide for an upgrade (then it wouldn't matter since I'd be buying a new laptop if I failed)

 

I've done it! I opened the laptop and worked slowly to install the new CPU. I had almost no trouble at all opening it!!!! I knew I could do it if I stopped fearing!

guess what? I kept getting like 84C on full load in prime95, I felt it was to hot but I tried k10stat and undervolted........... AMAZINGLY I was able to lower it from 1.4125 all the way down to 0.9000 and it runs FINE I ran Prime95 all night no errors of any kind. The best thing is the temp was 60C max! A HUGE DIFFERENCE. I then ran furmark with it and got it up to 74C, but considering the temp was so large earlier this stuns me......... anyways I'll be using this from now on

Have you tried dropping the laptop down the stairs to see if it still works yet?
