View Full Version : Upcoming Concert
So my band is doing our first real gig. And the jist of the concert is classic-rock based songs (meaning, we're playing mainly classic-rock). So basically this is the list of songs we're playing and I wonder if anyone has any reccomendations...
Oh; we have a great drummer, a good bassist, a good guitarist, myself on guitar and vocals and a great keyboardist.
Fortunate Son - CCR
Money (That's What I Want) - Beatles
Take A Walk on the Wild Side - Velvet Underground
Pride and Joy - Stevie Ray Vaughan
Roadhouse Blues - Doors
Midnight Rambler - Stones
Poets - Tragically Hip
New Orleans is Sinking - Tragically Hip
Now, these songs are in no particular order. So for one, any advise on which order to play them in is appreciated. And second, I think we could use one more song and if you any advise for a change in a song, please tell me. Thanks!
Pollux V 12-31-02, 03:18 PM If you can handle it, I'd suggest George Harrison's Wawa (if that's the title of the song) on All Things Must Pass. IMO that song kicks major ass, but it may not yet be considered classic. If it isn't called Wawa it's the third track on the cd--if you take this suggestion seriously it might help somehow.
All I can say really is good luck. What type of place are you playing at, and will there be many people?
I'll bring up the song at our next practice. It's a Harrison though, so it's a matter of how hard the guitar/voice is. I generally can't do his voice too well.
A bar-esque place outside of Toronto. I think there'll be something like 80-120 people the guy said.
And thank you!
tape, compress and put it online
How can we get a tape on computer??

I have no clue, but a really really handyman approach would be to record the session on tape, then bring it home and play it with your comp's microphone listening. Convert it to a compressed soundfile, it may sound crappy, but hey, that's life.
True, I might try that. The problem is that the tape's quality will likely be shit anyway. It's in a bar! Anyway, I'm quite, quite excited!
Forget the bar and its noise. If you have a sound mixer tie the preamp out to the recorder. If you have the right ripper you may convert the reel's output to wav and then mp3.

Hmm...A really bad way to put live sound into mp3 file is to record the event using a camera, pop the tape into your nearest video-editing supporting program on the comp with an outlet to a VCR-type machine (can be found at your school, perhaps), isolate the sound, and save it/compress and save it. It's quite easy, because there will be different lines for video and audio. We did that for our vid project, when we used music from Charlie Chaplin.
Or, tell us when it's on, and have some live streaming video/audio at some designated time+site through web cam. :)
%BlueSoulRobot% 01-02-03, 10:24 AM Music ... Do INXS, Iron Butterfly, Iron Maiden, Stone Temple Pilots, Nirvana, Bush, The Wallflowers count?
P.S. Good luck with the show! :)
