View Full Version : Unarguable? fishtail 05-21-07, 05:32 AM Is there a subject that members think is unarguable? Nikelodeon 05-21-07, 05:42 AM No. spuriousmonkey 05-21-07, 05:44 AM yes. All fruitless chinstroking topics. http://www.sciforums.com/encyclopedia/Fruitless_Chin-Stroking fishtail 05-21-07, 07:36 AM No. Are you sure? If i poked some ones eyes out they would be blind, no possibility of arguing otherwise. Nikelodeon 05-21-07, 07:40 AM If i poked some ones eyes out they would be blind. Thats not true. kenworth 05-21-07, 07:43 AM Are you sure? If i poked some ones eyes out they would be blind, no possibility of arguing otherwise. actually they have invented a device which gets visual information to the sight centre in the brain through the tongue. fishtail 05-21-07, 07:47 AM actually they have invented a device which gets visual information to the sight centre in the brain through the tongue. Yuck and double yuck, but is that sight? kenworth 05-21-07, 09:08 AM yes,the only thing that has changed is the receiver. fishtail 05-21-07, 09:20 AM Here is a good one, soaps are not real life. Nikelodeon 05-21-07, 09:24 AM Of course they are. fishtail 05-21-07, 09:38 AM Of course they are. So what happened to the cross roads motel? Nikelodeon 05-21-07, 09:45 AM It was moved to Kindersley. fishtail 05-21-07, 09:49 AM Ok, may be some one can think of an unarguable? peta9 05-21-07, 10:00 AM death and taxes for now. fishtail 05-21-07, 10:05 AM death and taxes for now. But death is just so arguable, some say the soul does not die and the body is only a vessel. Oli 05-21-07, 12:15 PM Other people are weird. Absane 05-21-07, 02:29 PM The whole 0.999... = 1 "debate" is not arguable since one side has been PROVEN over and over again. I am reminded of this debate because I am in one right now on another forum. The debate has pretty much come down to this: I provide proofs and explanations of definitions. The reply? "You're an idiot (add some intuitive garbage that contradicts itself)." kenworth 05-21-07, 02:31 PM so 0.9999 doesnt equal 1 right? Absane 05-21-07, 02:40 PM so 0.9999 doesnt equal 1 right? No, but 0.999... = 1. However, I am NOT getting into this debate. If it were up to me, I would BAN the topic. kenworth 05-21-07, 02:42 PM No, but 0.999... = 1. However, I am NOT getting into this debate. If it were up to me, I would BAN the topic. ok.,can you please PM me the reasoning.i am genuinely interested. one_raven 05-21-07, 03:24 PM No, but 0.999... = 1. Of course it does not. one_raven 05-21-07, 03:26 PM And I have seen it argued 1,000 times (or maybe it was 999 times - there IS a difference you know). So it is quite obviously arguable. leopold99 05-21-07, 03:28 PM Is there a subject that members think is unarguable? i consider a few that are: james r. is a moderator. this board is called sciforums. plazma inferno is administrator. of course there are some that would argue just for the sake of arguing. it would be a nice way to weed out the trolls. inzomnia 05-21-07, 03:37 PM Is there a subject that members think is unarguable? there is unlimited subject that are unarguable. for example,... * without oxygen people can't live. * winston churcil is already died. * .. fishtail 05-21-07, 03:58 PM I forget what it is now that deep sea divers breath, i am sure it is not oxygen. inzomnia 05-21-07, 04:00 PM shessssh my computer is very slow, trying to delete previous one but didnt work! one_raven 05-21-07, 04:11 PM I forget what it is now that deep sea divers breath, i am sure it is not oxygen. Nitrogen, maybe? I forget as well, and am too lazy to look it up right now. inzomnia 05-21-07, 04:14 PM i already restart my PC twice (twice! :bugeye: ), is it my PC or sciforums? it so slow to access sciforums, but i dont find difficulty accessing other page. Is it just mine? I forget what it is now that deep sea divers breath, i am sure it is not oxygen. isnt it a mixture of oxygen and helium? one_raven 05-21-07, 04:15 PM i already restart my PC twice (twice! :bugeye: ), is it my PC or sciforums? It's the site. inzomnia 05-21-07, 04:23 PM Oh Goddddd... it took 34 seconds to open one sciforums page, and when it opens, it said the page cannot be displayed :bugeye: have to refresh it before i could see this page again. :bawl: normally it took only 1-2 seconds (i guess). It's the site. yours also? fishtail 05-21-07, 04:29 PM i already restart my PC twice (twice! :bugeye: ), is it my PC or sciforums? it so slow to access sciforums, but i dont find difficulty accessing other page. Is it just mine? isnt it a mixture of oxygen and helium? I am sure helium is one. Try giving your valves more volts. leopold99 05-21-07, 04:31 PM I forget what it is now that deep sea divers breath, i am sure it is not oxygen. are you sure people don't breath oxygen? fishtail 05-21-07, 05:02 PM are you sure people don't breath oxygen? No, or maybe deep sea divers need a mixture containing some oxygen, but oxygen is carsonagenic whatever the word is ,poisonous under pressure. Absane 05-21-07, 05:43 PM Of course it does not. You don't trust real analysis? And you don't know that the only reason 0.999... exists is because we use a base 10 system? 0.999... (base 10) = 1 base(3) = 1 (base 10). Do you really think we lose "accuracy" with EXACT numbers when we change bases? And what exactly is 1 - 0.999...? Don't tell me 0.000..001. And don't tell me it's a number we can't be expressed. We can always write a system for a number. And so long as we are dealing with the real numbers, we can perform addition and multiplication on them to obtain any other number in the reals. nietzschefan 05-21-07, 05:47 PM Can I have .001% of all the money in the world? Absane 05-21-07, 05:48 PM Can I have .001% of all the money in the world? Maybe? |
