No.

Are you sure? If i poked some ones eyes out they would be blind, no possibility of arguing otherwise.

death and taxes for now.

death and taxes for now.

But death is just so arguable, some say the soul does not die and the body is only a vessel.

The whole 0.999... = 1 "debate" is not arguable since one side has been PROVEN over and over again. I am reminded of this debate because I am in one right now on another forum. The debate has pretty much come down to this: I provide proofs and explanations of definitions. The reply? "You're an idiot (add some intuitive garbage that contradicts itself)."

kenworth
05-21-07, 02:31 PM
so 0.9999 doesnt equal 1 right?

No, but 0.999... = 1. However, I am NOT getting into this debate. If it were up to me, I would BAN the topic.

Of course it does not.

And I have seen it argued 1,000 times (or maybe it was 999 times - there IS a difference you know).
So it is quite obviously arguable.

Is there a subject that members think is unarguable?
i consider a few that are:
james r. is a moderator.
this board is called sciforums.
plazma inferno is administrator.

of course there are some that would argue just for the sake of arguing.
it would be a nice way to weed out the trolls.

 there is unlimited subject that are unarguable.

for example,...
* without oxygen people can't live.
* winston churcil is already died.
* ..

i already restart my PC twice (twice! :bugeye: ), is it my PC or sciforums?
it so slow to access sciforums, but i dont find difficulty accessing other
page. Is it just mine?

Oh Goddddd... it took 34 seconds to open one sciforums page, and when it
opens, it said the page cannot be displayed :bugeye: have to refresh it before
i could see this page again. :bawl: normally it took only 1-2 seconds (i guess).

It's the site.

I am sure helium is one.

fishtail

No, or maybe deep sea divers need a mixture containing some oxygen, but
oxygen is carsonagenic whatever the word is ,poisonous under pressure.

Absane

Of course it does not.

You don't trust real analysis? And you don't know that the only reason 0.999... exists is because we use a base 10 system? 0.999... (base 10) = 1 base(3) = 1 (base 10). Do you really think we lose "accuracy" with EXACT numbers when we change bases? And what exactly is 1 - 0.999...? Don't tell me 0.000..001. And don't tell me it's a number we can't be expressed. We can always write a system for a number. And so long as we are dealing with the real numbers, we can perform addition and multiplication on them to obtain any other number in the reals.
