Imam accused of 'gay death' slur
The comments were made in a private meeting
A gay rights campaigner has accused an Imam of saying the execution of gay Muslims to stop the spread of disease is "for the common good of man".
Dr John Casson visited Arshad Misbahi, the Imam at Manchester Central Mosque, to discuss concerns over the execution of homosexual Muslims in Iran.
Dr Casson said the comments were made in a private meeting but he wrote them down afterwards.
The Imam did not deny the comments but said he had been misinterpreted.
Mr Misbahi said he was only talking about the Islamic perspective on homosexuality and stressed he would make a statement later on Thursday.
I would apologise if I had misunderstood what he said
Dr John Casson
Dr Casson, a psychotherapist, said he was shocked at what had been said.
He said he set up the meeting to open dialogue with the Muslim community after reading about two gay teenagers, Mahmood Asghari and Ilyas Mahoni, who were hanged in Iran.
He decided to contact Muslim leaders to show he felt this was unacceptable.
"I would very much welcome the Imam's clarification of him telling me and the public exactly what the views of Islam are," he said.
"I would apologise if I had misunderstood what he said to me.
"I wrote down what he said to me straight after the interview."
'Demonising Muslims'
Massoud Shadjareh, from the Islamic Human Rights Commission, said this was not an issue for Muslims.
He said homosexuality was "not compatible" with Islam, just as it was not compatible with other orthodox religions, such as Catholicism.
He added: "Just one man talking to another becomes an issue, Muslims are being put under a magnifying glass.
"I think that this is part of demonising Muslims," he said.

yes your right, but popes & priests & buddhists monks are not saying we should kill gays are they, unlike muslim clerics & imans.
What is it with muslim leaders, muslim clerics & imans, we have the australian muslim leader saying when women are not wearing a burka & veil they deserved to be raped, & today a UK iman saying saying gays should be killed.
I dont know of any other religon, where its leaders tell there followers its ok to rape & kill.
When these loony clerics cause fury with there comments they claim freedom of speech, the freedom to tell there followers rape is ok if she looks like a slut, & killing is ok to if he or she is gay.
Thats incitement to kill & rape, not freedom of speech.
all gay people are a threat to human civilization, as our society needs extra genes to advance in evolutionary steps, if there are gay people they need to be either un-gayed or killed. and it does not matter if they are muslim or buddhists.
Kiwi123 10-26-06, 02:02 PM I think the "reasoning" he gave was political smoke & fake, I believe he wants to execute them because of his fanaticism, period.

oh...:p ...well either way I will be the first to slice their throats.

Any scientist with a brain will tell you the biggest threat to human civilization is the population growth, & us all running out of resources.
As gay people dont breed, therefore dont add to our population, how do you figure gays are a threat to us all puff the magic dragon?

magic dragon? hehehe...thx.
Gay people are a threat because they do not contribute to the world's gene pool, thus there might be genes gay people carry that has a potential to advance evolutionary adaptability of human species.

Agreed

I can't remember which thread it was, but apparently in civilised Europe the population is actually diminishing...it's only the immigrants spraying out 10kids at a time who are threatening our resources :)

Where is the threat? Surely if they indeed do have such a gene then what we should do is buy their sperm and use it by IVF with willing females.
But again, I ask, where is the threat? How do gays harm the rest of society? Aren't you aware of gays massive contribution to all of the arts, to design and to general good taste (and sometimes gloriously bad taste) and refinement in a myriad of genres?
Homophobia is a disease at worst and social immaturity at best. Grow up.
Just_Not_There 10-26-06, 03:47 PM Ah but homosexuality, especially bisexuality are spreading diseases like nobody's business....homosexuals are notoriously promiscuous, and the act of male homosexual sex gives a very high probability of transmission, which they then spread on to the rest of population....it is really that harmless?

I'm a notoriously promiscuous heterosexual. Should I be outlawed? That would be like outlawing sexy! You can't do that! How would companies convince twats like you to buy their product?

Do you honestly believe that STD is a gay invention? Since the discovery of AIDS and the apparent risks associated with homosex, HIV infections have actually been reduced within the gay community and have risen within the hetero. The reasons are probably because gays are more aware of the risks involved and are consciously taking better precautions, whereas more heteros prefer to remain ignorant of the facts and are in denial that AIDS can affect them in the same way.
You cannot use STD and AIDS as an excuse to penalise gays, disease does not discriminate, but spreads through ignorance and bad hygiene.
all gay people are a threat to human civilization, as our society needs extra genes to advance in evolutionary steps, if there are gay people they need to be either un-gayed or killed. and it does not matter if they are muslim or buddhists. This is the policy in fundamentalist Islamic nations such as Iran, Saudi Arabia and Sudan. You have much in common with the Wahabbist Muslims.
Pheegen 10-26-06, 06:57 PM dragon, in your opinion, old people past breeding age should be killed, they after all are no longer contributing the gene pool, also what about people with diseases? Surely we can't have them breeding and messing up the gene pool further?
hey didn't hitler once propose such things, dragon?

the only difference is that all that say in this thread is mostly bullshit, and I dont believe in what I say myself. My reaction towards gay people is the more of them, the more girls for me to choose and spread my genes. So let gay people live and die.

First of all, all I said in this thread is purely to stir up some commotion. I, myself, act and think towards gay people in neutrality, I believe that everyone has their own choice in life and should not be punished for that choice. In the end when gay people become old they will realize that the main reason they are here on Earth is to pass their genes...and now they are too old to pass anything...and are all full of HIV. Its just reality is soooo boring...thus I have make some of your people's blood boil for a change. :D
Pheegen 10-26-06, 07:10 PM dragon, i don't think you get peoples blood boiling, but i'm sure you make people think you are an old uneducated bigot, which impacts on anything you say where you're not just stirring up shit...

that;s Mr. Draqon, with a q.

Christians have been saying this for centuries and hell they even killed them too, so what is your point?
Do you think that this imam's views are few centuries behind ?
Do you think that he should have said it all along his christians brothers?
Do you believe in some random private meeting where things might have said or might not the way it was portray?
Have you ever heard any christians saying that gay people are diesease and gay people shouldn't have equal rights or gay people should be killed before?
