A NASA decommissioned satellite has apparently collided with an unknown object on November 10th, causing at least four large pieces to break off.
The bus-sized Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite (UARS), was launched in 1991 to study the chemistry of the atmosphere.
UARS orbits at an altitude of 375 miles with an orbital inclination of 57 degrees.
