I have almost never played UT (only on PS, but just messing around). I downloaded the UT2k4 demo because it was free and thought it would be fun. When I have the shock rifle or lightining gun, there is a noticable time delay between the pressing of the fire button and the actual shooting of the gun itself. I don't notice this with other weapons. Is this an actual built-in thing or is it just my computer? This time delay makes it hard for me to play because I am used to instant firing like in Counter-Strike. I would say the delay it no more than 100 ms or so.. but it is enough to make it hard to hit someone without having to predict his movements.

I played UT for roughly 3 years. I was so addicted. I bought UT2k3 when if came out, slightly disappointed. I downloaded the UT2k4 demo the first day. Demand was high but I sat there and got it. I loved Onslaught, got too easy, then it got boring. JOTR is way better.

I have also noticed the delay in the rifles. I think it may just be the demo code. It may have been rectified in the final, and maybe the recent patch.

I tried researching information about the demo to see if there really is a delay or if it is just my computer. I mean, I could learn to shoot with the delay.. I just need to up my reflexes so I have a better chance at hitting someone. However it would be hard to keep switching between UT2k4 and CS because I have played CS a lot. I am very used to instant firing of the weapons.

One thing I did to verify that there is a delay is I would spin around at some anglular velocity. Then I would hit my mouse button. I would remember the spot I am supposed to hit. But actually depending on my angular speed, where the gun actually hits will be off by a few degrees. In a battle, it is hard to hit someone.
