I never thought I would be able to describe my country as having no respect for the soverignty of other nations or the rights of its own citizens.
I never thought I would see the day that a us president got to decide which citizens get due process and which citizens dont.
I never thought Id see the day when ignoring international opinion and with no basis but his own rehtoric a us president would take the nation to war.

US hit squads roaming the globe:

These men are insane. The fall out from this wil be years of bloodshed and increased terrorism. Is the us a rogue state? The international community is going to put up with this for only so long. Economic sanctions against the us could effectivly turn it into a third world country.
I used to think I lived in a great country.

Now Life imitates art....

May be they are learning from the James Bond movies...License to kill...after all these policy makers are the new generation kids born after WWII...

It is a generation gap....I suppose...just tip of the iceberg...

I'm curious ... IF they send these units across the globe to work independently of all the governments involved aren't they taking a risk in losing track of those governments that might be housing terrorists? In other words - if they take-out terrorists without getting some kind of clearance from the government of the nation in which they do it they'll possibly lose the opportunity to see if the terrorists get tipped-off by the government.

" ... with the right to bear arms ..."

I seem to recall Bush openly giving the CIA orders a while ago to assassinate Saddam. Nations have always done it, but bringing it out in the open like that is kinda nasty. If the USA can openly declare "We're out to assassinate your leader", then who is next? Will it be Tony Blaire or John Howard under the crosshairs next, or will they be targeting Bush?

It certainly has elements of fantasy doesnt it? I'm thinking doctor strangelove :)

For instance, bush has lost international support for attacking iraq and members of both american political parties are voiceing doubts:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/bush/story/0,7369,773624,00.html

"Last week Dick Armey, the Republican majority leader in the House of Representatives, said he did not believe an attack on Iraq would be justified without provocation. "My own view would be to let [President Saddam] bluster, let him rant and rave all he wants," Mr Armey said. "As long as he behaves himself within his own borders, we should not be addressing any attack or resources against him." Chuck Hagel, Republican senator for Nebraska, has also expressed reservations.

At the weekend, the Democratic national committee chairman, Terry McAuliffe, went further than most of his colleagues when he accused Mr Bush of breaking his agreement "never to exploit the national crisis that united us" after the September 11 terrorist attacks. "

The bush administration seems to be losing touch with reality.

if they take-out terrorists without getting some kind of clearance from the government of the nation in which they do it they'll possibly lose the opportunity to see if the terrorists get tipped-off by the government.

Interesting point but maybe moot. How many nations do we currently have as allies? Would any world government give permission to the us to charge in and take their citizens?

What's good for the goose ...
Do unto others ...

If we're taking shots at them ... they will undoubtedly take shots at us.

So much for telling your children that they can be president ... too much risk to your health!

m0rl0ck,

How is it that you never also consider as a real concern having your panties so tightly waded against the arteries feeding blood to your brain?

Too many distractions?
