I do not deserve them cuz I'm nice and stuff....

Please pretend you have all the resources to build your ideal PC. You can offer links to the parts and explain how you would configure it. I'll post mine later I'm at work and kinda busy.

My ideal computer would be surgically implanted in my brain, or as a replacement for certain areas of my brain.

    Give it time.
Having a desktop UI that I could interact with by thinking about it would be sweet.....or being able to use a "mental" search engine....... that would be awesome

or pull up a map by thinking about it..........GPS......recipe's......manuals....it would be awesome

If I had silly money, be arsed building it myself.

I'd ask one of my geeky friends to do it and give them a grand for their trouble.

I'd be looking at the most ridiculous setup possible, probably about £20k's worth.

You build your ideal computer and it doesn't even have the capability to burn a DVD? tsk tsk.

It's not so much that I want an ideal PC, but an ideal operating system.
I'd like an operating system that doesn't freeze up...EVER, regardless of what applications are installed; one that doesn't require 2 fuckin gigabytes of RAM to run(cough cough...Vista..cough cough); one that doesn't take up 2 gigabytes of hard drive space.
But an ideal PC would have an NAND(or any type of) flash drive rather than the contemporary hard drives.
    http://news.com.com/Bye-bye hard drive, hello flash/2100-1006_3-6005849.html
    -virtually no boot up time
    -instant file access
    -much less heat produced
    -much less power consumption

...is the one that can handle large QuarkXPress files without corrupting them, crashing, or slowing down to a crawl. And I mean PC, not a Mac, because Mac OS is dumb. I still have no idea what that criteria would require, I haven't seen a machine that was able to handle a large QuarkXPress file. =((

My Ideal PC would have an OS which can upon installation detect all hardwares connected to the Motherboard without needing any drivers at all. The OS will self program it's own drivers. It can accept any softwares from Microsoft, Linux, or Mac without any compatibility issues whatsoever. It will self program to accept these softwares from different platforms.

The OS will be named LAI - Learn, Adapt and Improvise.
