    Attacker of elderly man sentenced

Mr Chaudury walks with the aid of two walking sticks
A man who left a 96-year-old war veteran blind in one eye after attacking him on a packed tram has been given a three-year supervision order.
Stephen Gordon, 44, launched his unprovoked attack on Shah Chaudury in Croydon, south London, in December.

Gordon, from Croydon, was found guilty of grievous bodily harm after the attack was caught on CCTV, Croydon Crown Court heard.

The British Transport Police said they were "disappointed" with the sentence.

    Walking sticks

"The blow to the victim's head caused serious injury, which has resulted in the victim losing sight in one eye," said Det Sgt Darren Stenning.

"And unfortunately since this assault, the victim's health has deteriorated and he now resides in a care home."

The attack took place on a tram travelling between Sandilands and East Croydon on December 14 last year.

Gordon had tried to push past the victim, who was standing in the aisle leaning on his walking sticks.

As he squeezed under the pensioner's arms his hat was knocked off and he swore at the man and punched him in the face.

Police said two school children who were on the tram chased Gordon. They later gave evidence against him.

    outh Justice System
    Supervision Order

A Supervision Order can last up to three years. A range of conditions can be attached to a Supervision Order when the sentence is used for more serious offences. These are called 'specified activities' and can last for up to 90 days. Examples of 'specified activities' might be participation in an Intensive Supervision and Surveillance Programme (ISSP), drug treatment (for young people aged 16+), curfews or residence requirements, which might require a young person to live in local authority accommodation for the period of the sentence.

A young person receiving a Supervision Order is also required to take part in activities set by the youth offending team (YOT), which could include repairing the harm done by their offence either to the victim or the community and programmes to address their offending behaviour, such as anger management.

Look at the link to see this violent bastard in action.

I find this case amazing, & really shows what a pathetic state the uk legal system is in, our judges are so out of touch with reality they should be working in the russian legal system, this nutjob knocks a 96 year old man of his feet, then so enraged his hat came off after squeezing through his arms, he punches the guy in the face.

How is it my country can jail a pregnant women for stealing milk for 3o days, yet cant jail this bastard for blinding a near 100year old man, do we value milk more than a humanbeing?

Then to add insult they charge him with a JOKE youth supervision order, he is 44 years of age, he is not a youth, but to this geriatic judge he probably is, this guy is a fucking menace he has no respect for the elderly, therefore nobody in my view be it a baby or a adult, he needs locking up for life, before he kills somone, my guess he probably already has.

its high time the judges in the uk were sentenced for there crimes, & if this moron is not a uk citizen he needs deporting fast.

So what. A punch in the face if it's your first offense, should get something like probation. Don't worry, he will fuck up again.

This guy fought in a war so this moron could live in a democracy, this guy is a old age pensioner, there are no go areas in this world, & that is we respect our elders & look after children from harm.

Apart from the fact he attacked a man totally unable to defend himself, he also blinded him, do you feel a 3 year sentence is justifiction here?

If it was your eye & you were attacked here do you feel its all fair because its his first offence, what if i murder george bush & its my first offence do you feel your courts in america will be lenient on me?

What pisses me of most here is if you look at the picture there are able body youths & adults who could have jumped on this asshole, instead school children chase him & give evidence in court how pathetic of londoners, i never did like that place, a bunch of pussies thats what they are.

The situation turned out for the worst, this makes the guy proberly a first grade asshole but chouldn't be a reason to sentence him to jail. It wasn't a robbery it wasn't even a fight one punch is not a fight. He chould however be forced to pay some of the nursing home costs and take anger management classes.

I wasn't in court, I don't know if the kid was having a bad day, or on drugs, or what. Be thankful that the UK isn't like the US, where we just lock everyone up. People make mistakes.

Hey when i look at a pensioner i have compassion, i want to help them, when i look at a 100 year old person then its total respect time.

yet when you see this 44 year old man looking at him there is total hate in his face, i am sure if no one else was around then he would have killed him, luckily he took in his surroundings & stopped, if he had did this in my home city newcastle, he would have been kicked to fuck by fellow passengers on that i am sure, but londoners ignore everyone, i have no doubt if i had been there i would have layed into this asshole until he was crying like a girl.

Bullies are all the same they target the elderly & women & children & they are out & out bastards, & they all need a good fucking hiding, and when you give them one they dont back chat you or anything suddenly they become bambi.

This guys life is over he is now in a home, he is blind in one eye, all because this asshole is a very violent bastard.

So tell me how can we jail a pregnant women for 30 days for stealing milk, yet set this asshole free for blinding a man.

If i did this to your dad, would you be so understanding here?

You have to learn to see things from the victims point of view, & the family who suffer because of the actions of a very insane man, there was no justification to lead up to this act, the fat that he was totally oblivious to all these witnesses just shows that he has no control over his violence what so ever, the fact he does not take age into consideration means he thinks anybody deserves a beating if they cross him, what happens if a 3 year old trips him over tommorow is he going to punch him too?

When a crime has been committed you need to look at the scene, this is not a bar room, its a public train, this is not a case of young stallions trying to act hard, this is one sided argument from a man with real mental problems.

Do you want to tax the people and pay for more prisons? The guy isn't free, OK? And none of you were in the court at the time and heard what the judge heard.

Good thing no one has to pay for medical care in the UK. It sounds like Vincent wants mob rule instead of the rule of law. You want to be able to judge a man based on an internet article instead of allowing a court to hear the case.

    hey spidey
eeeerrrrr the tax payer does, doesnt he, just like the jails...???????

therefore the gordon imbercile can work in prison to pay for the medical care and any other consequence of his actions

the old guy was hit in the face by some younger gezza, and the old guy has lost sight in one eye.. WTF.. perhaps the old guy shoudl thank him ha!!!

Yeah Zak i have no doubt he will do it again, i know the look of insanity when i see it, & he has it written all over his face, this guy is a killer, he attacked a indian guy here, i wonder if the victim had been a upperclass english gentleman who also fought in the 2nd world war and was a pensioner, would the sentence have been the same???

I believe race is coming into this, i know from living in london that the upperclass get pampered in the legal system, if the victim had of been white & not indian the black guy would have been sent down i am sure.

    What do you think?
Are the uk courts playing the race card?

And if someone robs your house nowadays you gotta ask them to stop and pose for a photo or else "there is nothing the police can do"

its a shambles man thats what i do know...
