This means I'll be in for a year after my contract is up. That sucks, because I was looking forward to getting out this October. :(

I need a tan anyway.

There's a possibility I'll get a little too much sun.:(

Then again, North Korea is a bit cooler than Iraq, right? :bugeye:

..Just make sure when you’re driving on mountains roads that you don’t runover some insignificant “campesino” . Uncle Sam is great, but is running out of steam.

Anyhow, if you wear the uniform you are cashing the dollar, and if you accept the money, …the liability comes with it. Right?

Have you ever been in the military Microzoft? I would have to assume no. Because if you were, you wouldn't talk like that...even if you didn't like it.

Not everyone is as selfish as you. Maybe someday you will understand.

The military is not made up of people that hate you, or people you should hate. You need to direct your comments higher up the food chain...

Yes, I have the wings and you are assuming wrong, and No. I don’t think everyone should think in a stereotype way. I didn’t went to war with my eyes closed and I didn’t come out of it with them closed either.

But I did assess what we encountered on the field and what was the propaganda at home.

Then there was a thin multinational consensus for a limited and objective action, now is a total circus,

That I disagree with you doesn’t make me selfish, that is just your personal opinion.

No, the military is most certainly not made out of people that hate me, How could they.

And yes, I need to direct my comments at higher picks of this food chain. I frequently try but the level of success is unknown.

So, did I misunderstand you when you said who cares about the military? I know it was in another thread, but you know what I'm talking about.

And if you were in the military, you should know the pay isn't that great. So, why go there?

VAKEMP – I would like to understand. We need a military and I respect those who are in it for the greater good. But too often civilians are killed by the rampant military ego. For instance, the wedding party in Afghanistan summarily massacred over small arms fire that was hardly a threat to the high-flying plane. No doubt those involved escaped court-martial, since it seems to be more the norm rather than an isolated incident. Now you will help steal Iraq’s oil for Bush’s cronies. Did you know it was like that before you joined? I respect you, but I will teach my son that there are better ways he can serve others. I am interested in your opinion.

So that I can judge!
You lost me there.

Lemme break it down for you:
If I could make twice as much in a civilian job, to do less than I do in the military, why are you going to judge me when I choose to join the military and defend my country? Why do you make it sound like people join the military for the money?

if you wear the uniform you are cashing the dollar, and if you accept the money

It's a contract. I can't give my two weeks notice. You should know that.

It was a misunderstanding. I was not there, so I have no right to speak on their behalf. However, I think it would be safe to say that the pilot didn't know it was a harmless wedding. The pilot were in a warzone. The people in Afghanistan were warned not to fire their weapons in the air. It was a breakdown in communication. It happens to the military both in war and peace. Sometimes Marines die from friendly fire. If it was an accident, why should anyone be punished? The pilot did what he thought was right, assuming every Afghan knew not to shoot in the air, as it would obviously be seen as an act of agression. Word was passed not to do such things. Unfortunately, they didn't get the word or they didn't listen.

I'm sorry that innocent people lost their lives, but it was miscommunication. It was very tragic.:(

OK, maybe the pilots assumed that although small arms were not much of a threat, the fact that civilians were warned indicated ground military and so a SAM could be coming their way next, or to the next plane.

Good that you choose to join the Army, otherwise you may have become a deserter, right?

I don’t say or think that military are in for the money. What I have indicated is that it is an activity like in a private corporation of ranks and income, some love their jobs and others don’t, some love it to death and other have no better options.

But they all get an income and when holding a weapon should not even mention getting kill as you did. Military that are trained to kill should have clear in their minds that getting kill is a fair game.

Of course you can not give your two week notices but there are dozen of other methods.

By the way, ..Don’t you think we’re dragging this too far from the original subject??
