Ok, like many here I'm a gamer, and that's never been a problem for me, and it's bought me nothing but happieness. Lately, though I find that when I come to post here on the sciforums or do any other exessive amount of typing, I tend to rest my left hand, on the W-A-S-D keys rather than on the normal homerow keys. It's kind of an unconsious thing that I only realize once I start typing and it comes out all funny lookin'. Has anyone else developed this stupid problem?

No, but I'm a lousy typer and have to consciously put my hand on the homerow evertime anyway.

I consider myself a great typer because I can type fast while not even concentrating on typing (I can do math problems while typing

) I have never used the homerow keys at all so I don't think you really have a problem... Your typing skills just take time, not proper homerow keys.

Usually the home keys, the F and the J have an upraised mark on them you can feel molded into the key surface. Get in the habit of feeling for those marks when you put your fingers to the keys.

The other problem is probably that you are resting your hands out of place at the wrists in relation to the keyboard. Learn to get square with the keyboard in body postition.

The thing is that I've been typing quite well since I was 12, but only now do I find myself putting my hand over WASD, I guess it's just because for the longest time I just used the Arrow keys for gaming. . . until my wrist really started hurting for the weird angle I'd have to rest it at. WASD is pretty simmilar to just laying your hand over asdf, which I guess is the problem.

People are starting to realise that I can be looking at a board one the opposite side of the room and type whats on it.

However something that proves whether or not you can type is a simple exercise.

All you have to do is SHUT YOUR EYES, and try typing a response.
(Mind you it would be my luck to have Porfiry complain if there are too many responses)

btw, If you can spell is a different matter.
