    Hello,

since today, I have a problem with my dvd-drive. It is a nec dv 5800A.

When I try to make a direct copy of an audio cd, using roxio easy cd creator, it stops scanning tracks at track 9. It happens with every cd. (I use a nec cd writer in a second bay)

I don't have problems copying a 700 meg data cd, like a divx.

It can also still rip the tracks, even those above track 9, perfectly.

It does not need a driver, and the inf file is installed anyway.

I am running windows me. I know, but it always worked before.

Any suggestions? Ideas? What could be wrong?

    Thanks!

Edjt: ah! it just reached track 10. Now it stalls there.

Edit 2: ah, another jump. Every two or three minutes, a track seems to be scanned. But this will take forever. The first eight tracks are scanned very quickly, as it is supposed to.
