Boris2 05-17-04, 01:54 AM you may like to try the tiny trebuchets link on this page.... http://members.iinet.net.au/~rmine/gctrebs.html they are a local, for me anyway, mob. i have seen them in action at a few fairs around here. oscar 05-17-04, 02:27 PM wtf? guthrie 05-17-04, 03:05 PM Trebuchets- a kind of medieval siege engine, very pwoerful. But they can be made only a foot or so high, to demonstrate the principle, or else can be as simple as an arm on a vertical pole, with some rope for people to pull on. Oh, and a sling, the sling is very important, it generates so much power in part from the way teh stone is released. Apparently Edward the first, in about 1296 or so, had one when he attacked Stirling castle. Allegedly the first shot demolished the gatehouse, and he may have ignored the garrisons please for surrender in order to test his fancy new toy out more. A really good site, is this: http://members.iinet.net.au/~rmine/Greycos/greytrebs.html#models You might also want to lok up Springalds, onagers, catapults, and suchlike. I could have some suggestions about your scale model one, if you tell us more, it would be interesting.
