So do you guys walk, bicycle, use the bus or a car?

If the last, do you have one car or many?

And whats the longest distance you'll walk rather than take a car/bike/bus/other?

Seeing that my legs aren't what they used to be I must take a car or taxi. Bus services to where I have to go aren't available. A bicycle isn't very fast and I get wet when it rains and I get hit by cars that don't give a shit about bikes!

longest daily distance I would take the bicycle is whatever I can reach in 50 min.

Currently taking the bus because my bicycle is broken. The distance i was taking by bicycle was 45 min. The bus does it in 35 min.

I drive my own car to work and the grocery store. On weekends we use my husbands truck. He's too big to fit into my tiny car comfortably.

I take the bus to work. Mostly I walk back, if I'm carrying a lot of papers or books, I take the bus. Walking distance 35 minutes, but I've walked an hour to work.

I drive my car to work because I have to go far too early to take the bus, but on the weekends if its less than 2 miles i'll walk it (i live in downtown area so its always less then two miles)

I spend 3-4 hours on a city bus everyday to get to and from work. 3 buses in the morning, 3 at night. It sucks big hairy gorilla balls. I don't have a car right now either, Nic.

I also don't have a car, although my wife does for her work commute. We don't use it much otherwise. I take a bus to work and bike or walk most other places.

I walk to work and don't have a car because I live at the capital and can get everywhere by public transport if need.
I like walking, but I like running more. I run to places whenever I can.
It's faster and keeps me fit.
The longest distance I've walked is ~150km.

I like walking, work is an hour's drive or 2-1/2 hours on the bus...

[Edit]
One car.
Walking. car distance decision making depends on weather/ urgency/ destination I probably wouldn't walk five miles to an interview, but I'd walk five to go book shopping (influenced by the fact that on the walk back I can get one of my purchases read :))

Quoting from Sam

"And whats the longest distance you'll walk rather than take a car/bike/bus/other?"

distance=x=unknown
....

time=y=any time

....

well than I guess you are right. But I once spent a month in a village without any transportation...and every day I walked more than 5 miles... so that's more than 150 miles....without transportation in a month...beat ya...:o

 well...from the start of the month I came through the front door...whereas at the end of the month I left from the back door...so that's point A and B...and in between I walked more than 150 miles all round for a month....:p

pubs are bad for you. Enjoy fresh milk, juice, do kayaking...jogging...biking...instead.

Five days before laying inside a tight coffin...what memories will you remember in a flashback? the visits to the pub...imagine what life would have been otherwise, make it happen.

On the roads? No. There are some pretty good tracks in the forest near where I live, where I do. I love downhill racing!

we don't have public transportation in our town. I suppose I could ride a bike the 8 miles to work, but then I'd be arriving all stinking sweaty at work.

Do all of you who ride a bike to work, have showers there?

well I got YMCA (brand new...made in 2005)...so I take a shower there

If it wasnt for naked men...who purposely show off their goods in dressing room...YMCA would be a perfect place otherwise.

I drive A LOT! At least 1,000 miles a week. But everyday I drive to school and park about 1-1.5 mile away from campus to walk. I do this for 2 reasons:

1) Exercise
2) It's free. Parking is expensive downtown.

I'm usually walking or riding a bike if I have enough money to go hang out with people and actually have fun. Other than that, sometimes I run down to this giant park in the city next to where I live, and I'm only ever in a car when I can find someone to give me a ride.

basically women have more than one car...thus emit more carbon dioxide gas which pollutes atmosphere and increase global warming

i walk everywhere.
i own two bicycles, and refuse to use them.
when you walk, you can see your surroundings much better.....
enjoy life and it's little moments while you can. being in a hurry is such a waste.

I like biking a lot. Since I have a bicycle, I rarely use shopping trolley (previously I just
walk to nearest supermarkt with it) or public transport (train/bus) although I can use
them for free if I bring my student ID. I dun have car.

Since I live in California, I have to drive my car everywhere because everything is spread out so far away. If I lived in a big east coast city, I would just use the metro system and/or bicycle without ever having to spend money on gas.
