Tori is one of my favorite solo musicians. You are very lucky to be seeing her.

Tori amos is cool
I much prefer female artists to male ones or "bands"
And I'm not even aiming to only like female artists, it just turned out that way.
I think music is one thing women are better at.
At least singing anyway.

I find Tori is one of the best musicians for me to listen too while up late doing art stuff. you can sort of zone to it, while full aware of what you are doing. plus singing out loud to it is great. She's got the most important thing in her music, IMO, real emotion.

And I saw her a few years ago, and she had the best light show of any concert I've ever been too.

That, and she's a red-haired cutie :D

Tori's earlier albums are among my personal favourites. "Under the Pink" and "Little EarthQuakes" have some of the most beautiful piano music I've ever heard and the lyrics are intensely personal.

Her more recent stuff has gone off on a very "alternative" tangent with lots of techo electronic sound which does not appeal to me personally. There are a few good tunes on her more recent albums but it takes a lot of time for them to grow on you. Personally I wish she would return to her roots and stick with plain old piano....

P.S. Apparently Tori Amos came out with an original album at the beginning of her career called "Y Tori Kant Read". I've never heard it but I'm told it had kind of a heavy metal sound. It didn't do well for her but apparently it's now a collector's item...

Who cares what she sounds like! Her music writing ability is amazing. I play heaps of her music on the piano.... If you've heard ALL of her songs you'll know that not all sound like a cat dying. Try listening to Winter, China and Lust.

I can't stand the self-pity. Rape her again.

Well, if she's of Jewish descent, I agree :D

What self pity? She was never physically raped to be honest.

I am the exact opposite. There are very few female musicians that I like, but Tori Amos is one of them.

I have read that she was raped as well, but what I read didn't say anything about it not being "physically" done. What's the story?

Sorry. I was reading some posts by some misinformed 'toriphiles' on another board and just read an article that clarified it. http://www.thedent.com/rape.html
