That sounds like the same dodge that the U.S. is famous for, like when they didn't tell Admiral Kimmel that Pearl Harbour was about to be attacked. The U.S. corporate government's main business is war. For there ever to be peace on the planet, the U.S. oligarchy is going to have to be stripped of it's controlling power and the country converted to a democracy.

    This is interesting too

"A post to the FTW discussion forum offered this tidy summation of the whole Enron + Afghanistan picture, including the artificial western "power crisis:
Here's a summary of how Bush's Afghanistan oil pipeline scheme works:
    1. Bush appoints key cabinet members to his administration who worked for Enron, an energy trading company that has used numerous schemes to raise the cost of energy it sells to various California utilities.
    2. He and his administration use Enron to engineer a phony energy crisis via rolling blackouts in California. This justifies oil exploration and drilling in regions that were previously regarded as unfeasible by the U.S. Government.
    3. As part of the Energy Task Force, Cheney meets with Ken Lay to discuss creating an oil pipeline the stretches from the Caspian Sea through Afghanistan. Recently released correspondence between Lay and Bush reveals that Lay asked Bush to speak to the king of Uzbekistan about this pipeline.
    4. Cheney was the CEO of Halliburton, an oil drilling company that bought H.C. Price Company, a Texas-based oil company. H.C. Price is a joint partner of Saudi Bin-Laden Construction Group (http://www.sbg.com.sa/), the Bin-Laden family's construction company. And, H.C. Price Company provides anti-corrosion coatings for oil pipelines. H.C. Price is now called Brerardo-Shaw and is owned by Halliburton. The Bin-Laden's construction company builds crude-oil pipelines and provides anti-corrosion coatings from H.C. Price for these pipelines. Furthermore, logic would indicate that they have the heavy equipment in the region near Afghanistan that would facilitate the building of the pipeline through Afghanistan. And, Halliburton is an oil drilling company that can drill for the oil that is to be fed through the pipeline. Next comes Unocal, an oil company that builds oil pipelines. Bush recently appointed a former employee of Unocal as a U.S. liason between the U.S. and Afghanistan. So, in the final analysis, the Saudi Bin-Laden Group provides Unocal with the heavy equipment needed to build the pipeline. Halliburton drills for the oil to be fed into the pipeline, and Enron—an energy trading company—bids up the oil to sell it at high cost to neighboring countries like China. Of course, then Bush needs to clear the way for Halliburton, Unocal, Enron, and the Saudi Bin-Laden Group to make the Afghanistan oil pipeline possible. So, he creates the 9/11 attacks, which enable him to send U.S. troops to Afghanistan to clear away militant Taliban forces that are hostile to his pipeline project.

Preventing the 9/11 attacks would have messed things up nicely
