There is a connection between guns and massive weapons. Only the scale is different. The mentality of defense, fear or hatred in their use is the same. The NRA has contributed in some ways to domestic child shooting deaths. So has the USA on a global scale.
Chalton Heston's NRA is more selfish than outright evil.
To some Heston is a heroic figure:
He parted the Red sea on film
but can not stop Alzheimers advance.
As a man I wish him the best.
But as president of the NRA
I hope there is a heaven reserved
for all the children shot dead.
Heston should spend eternity there
with kids shot through the head.

Life time members of the NRA
want freedom from their government.
They want protection against the Feds.
They want their guns, victims be damned.
Protection is aggression
in many peoples eyes.
Guns and bombs are not an answer
they are the angry symptoms.
Famine disease and war
are accepted as birth control.
Governments use them deliberatly.
Guns play an important role.
We are told of great men who are hailed for their accomplishment
by improving or inventing efficient ways to kill.
It is my position they are great fools.
The most insidious are the ones that make you ill.
You may choose to believe those who live by the sword
will not die by the sword.
You may choose to believe that the sword is mightier than the pen.
You may choose to believe a weapon can not be turned against its owner.
You may believe an ultimate weapon will bring ultimate peace.
You may ignore all facts by saying God is on your side.
Bullets evolved to missles, targets evolved to citizens.
If you think a gun will preserve your life or way of life
you might be right in a rare isolated event,
but in the larger scheme of modern war it is a short reprieve.
Guns or ICBM's are part of the same disease.
If it is correct that everyone should be armed
give every soul in the world a gun.
Point it at the temple of the person on your right.
You could wait for one false move
or fall victim to the first person to sneeze.
You may believe you are right and I am wrong,
Perhaps the message of love spoken by a Messiah is fiction
or you simply don't believe it.
Right and wrong are not the hostages of religion.
Religion and guns are right wing partners.
They are taught to hate the lovers of peace with a passion.
According to the myth, once Pandora's box is opened
releasing unspeakable evil, it can never be closed.
If it takes a fool to try and close the box
I would suffer that foolishness gladly
rather than pull one more trigger,
explode one more H bomb,
engineer one more virus of mass destruction.
Killing need not be a budget busting production.
Or high technology few understand.
The insane will still feel thrill and seduction
by using the power of their own bare hands.
Those who feel the thrill and seduction of power
kill offensively for defense and defensively for offense.
By winning they lose the prize.
In the ruins of civilization, the last child cries.
Its not selfish for one to own a gun
Its not selfish for victims to mourn their son
The owners of guns organized for their hobby
The price of freedom is blood but its bought with a lobby.
Defense contractors make Billions of dollars.
There is now more money in guns than butter.
What do lovers of peace produce of value?
90% of the tax dollars
and lives of your sisters and brothers.
Join hands in peace
or squeeze a trigger.
Its about your family
Now and for the future.
