What city do "The Simpsons" live in. After being on the air for 13 seasons i still haven't figured out what city they live in. They have dropped numerous clues and i have narrowed it down to upstate New York or Lousiana...don't ask me why i just have. In the show even Lisa said her self one time "If you look at the clues you can figure it out". But the problem is the clues seem to cancel each other out. Any idea on what city they live in:confused:

They live in the City of Springfield. Duh. You obviously mean: "What state do they live in?"

Well, to answer that, it's Texas. The Simpson's live in Texas.

Sorry.
Not sure where you heard that, but it is not correct.
For all those years it was a running gag that they would never mention the state.
They wanted it to be Anytown, USA, so they didn;t want to limit it.

But finally.
At long last...

(God I sound like such a GEEK)

In the "The Simpsons; Behind the Laughter" episode (on of the BEST all-time episodes, by the way) they finally said it.

They didn't make much of a deal about it at all, they just mentioned it once in passing.

Kentucky.

(it IS an actual City, by the way, which surprised me. Welcome to Springfield, Kentucky Web Page (http://www.springfieldky.org/) )

Ahhh! I knew it! I know where Springfield, KY is! Heck! I've driven through it before!!! (I live in Kentucky) It all makes sense now. Or was it just a joke? Because Kentucky doesn't have a dessert like how they do...

Actually Sargent, some lakes in Kentucky are very large. Some of them even have sand. Also, we do have mountains, Forrest's, snow storms, tornados, etc. And I believe at one point in our history, a hurricane.

True, but i don't see Kentucky as the one.....but then again i am more wrong than right so you'd probably win this bet.

That's exactly why he chose "Springfield".

There are more Springfields in America than there are states.

(if you count Sprigfield Townships and West Springfields etc..)

Here's a List (http://www.census.gov/cgi-bin/gazetteer?city=springfield&state=&zip=)

But they did say Kentucky in that ONE episode.

Narrator: And now the future looks brighter than ever for this Northern Kentucky family.

(it's kind of funny that Springfiled is not in "Northern" Kentucky, but they did say Kentucky in this episode, and never mentioned a state in any other episode)

I am sure I can find a script online if you want one.
The group of obsessed Simpsons is almost as long as Trekkies and possibly even more sick.

it's in the "Behind the Simpsons" episode that's a parody of Behind the Music. they just go out and say it, "...this northern Kentucky family"

we should spend more time talking about other things, like that fact that Duff man has two names(Sid and Howard).:bugeye:

I hate people from nothern kentucky. They talk funny, and make fun of people from Southern Kentucky (Me). Basically, everyone in nothern kentucky trys to act like there from NYC.

Also, if I could recall it, the Hills from King Of The Hill were on an episode. Hank said "We drove 500 miles for this?" Well, that means that they would live right in the tip of kentucky if that were true. Right? And the fact that the town was moved (Remember all the pollution got so bad that they had to move the town) Means that they live in Nothern Kentucky.

One of those rabid Simpsons fans I was talking about started a debate on a forum (I came across it looking for that script for you).

His position was that since this was the "Behind the Laughter" episode about the actors that portray the Simpsons not the Characters in the show, this means that the ACTORS are from Northern Kentucky, not the CHARACTERS and no one STILL knows where the characters are supposed to be from.

Someone replied, "IT'S NOT REAL. Not only is it a TV show... It is a CARTOON about fictional characters portrayed by fictional actors that live in a fictional PLACE."

:)

Gotta love the rabid Simpsonphiles!!

The point was for Matt to not pinpoint them anywhere.
He wanted it to be Anytown, USA.

I think he threw that bone in the "Behind the Laughter" episode for the fans to chew on.
It worked.

So it's still unconclusive, the Simpsons location eludes us once again. I thought so also that that it wasn't Kentucky, though it comes close to a lot of descriptions they have given in the show it just didn't match up at many points. I think that place doesn't exist, the fans are right it's "Anytown, USA". Oh well here's to the prosperity of the show and hope that i dies beofre that show gets cancelled....(about another 70 seasons i guess).
