I must admit, this story has had me shaking my head in disbelief.

    Hmmm classy..

It would seem the website who ran the sex auction refused her request to allow her access to the registration details of the 6 men who won the right to have sex with her in an online auction. The court has subsequently held that the child has a right to know who its father is and has ordered the website to release the details to the woman.

Imagine that after dinner conversation with the child..

'Mummy, how did you and daddy meet?'
'Well, he bought me at an online sex auction..'

I honestly do not know what was more surprising about this story. The fact that she actually sold herself to the highest bidders in an online auction. Or the fact that she was too stupid to use contraception. Then of course there is the blaring fact that the men who bid were also too stupid to use a condom. And there is also the fact that they had accepted a confidentiality clause in the site's terms and conditions, meaning the site will now be forced to breach their own agreement.

It takes all kinds I guess. All I can say after reading that story is 'poor kid'. Imagine having her as a mother and him, whichever one he happens to be, for a father.

It is very similar to prostitution. After all, she is selling her body for money. But there are a few differences here that should be taken note of.

Well firstly, prostitutes do not hold auctions.

Secondly, a prostitute will rarely get the contact details of all of her clients so that she can contact them if she happens to find herself pregnant. There is a level of privacy in prostitution that this online sex auction now apparently does not have.

Judge what? She sold her body online to the highest bidders, fell pregnant to one of them and now the website that had guaranteed the anonymity of the bidders has now been forced to give her all of their registration details. As a result, their privacy is now no longer something they could have relied on. Which begs to question where else would our privacy not be deemed to be of importance. For example, lets imagine two members meet up on here and neither knows the real name of the other. One falls pregnant and assumes the member she met with from here could be the father. The owners of this site would then be forced to release the confidential details registration details of this individual to this other member, she would then possibly force him to undergo a paternity test to determine whether he is the father or not. If he is not, then he is not bound to pay for the child's upbringing and she gets to keep knowledge of his name and all other contact details.

And that is the issue with this woman who sold her vagina to the highest bidder. She will be granted access to all of the 6 men who won the right to have sex with her. Only one of them could be the father. That means she will know the contact details of all of the 6 men and there is nothing they can do about it. Now you tell me, would you trust a woman who sold herself to the highest bidder in an anonymous online sex auction with your contact details? Do you think the website should be held responsible and be forced to breach its own privacy clause because she and the 6 men failed to use contraception?

Bleh.. I should have opened this in the Ethics forum.. ah well.. doesn't matter..

it does begger the question that if she can force the site to give contact details what for what OTHER reasons can a site be forced to give up its details

Of course with all the anti terror laws we have already pasted that stage. what can you say?

They should all have used some form of protection, at the very least.

If a woman sells herself on an internet auction, I'm gonna think she had more sex partners than those 6 men in the time frame she got pregnant. They need to throw out a larger DNA net.
And what kind of moron doesn't wear a condom in this day and age of AIDS?!

    stupid stupid people.
