View Full Version : The new format of Sciforms!!!!!
moementum7 05-15-04, 08:36 AM The new format just went into action about ten seconds ago.
Looks great but it is very hard to read anything printed in black.
Am I the only one with this problem?
Porfiry 05-15-04, 08:39 AM It's hard to read white text on black?
Dreamwalker 05-15-04, 08:42 AM Not really, but somehow that big black bar at the top annoys me.
I think dark grey would look better. ;)
Porfiry 05-15-04, 08:44 AM Well, it is slightly gray, it's not totally black.
moementum7 05-15-04, 08:44 AM No, for instance right now I am in the quick reply section.
Up above sciforms.com, Free Thoughts, my handle(moementum7), preferences,
and private messages are all in black.
I may eventually get used to it, but there is a presence of strain right now.
Ste_harris 05-15-04, 08:45 AM Looking good :D
Whats that symbol on the SF logo?
Porfiry 05-15-04, 08:46 AM I'll leave that up to you to figure out :)
Though really, it's there mostly for aesthetic reasons, my being a superficial yuppie and all.
Dreamwalker 05-15-04, 08:47 AM To me it looks pretty black. Nontheless, the thick dark bar (grey or black whatever) does not really fit to the rest of the forum design. At least in my eyes. The contrast is much too great. Hey, but it is your site.
But I like the new logo, looks cool.
moementum7 05-15-04, 08:48 AM No way, put some pink in it!!!
Honestly, without sounding gay, that blue is awesome, maybe turn that black into the blue.
Anyways, whatever you do, right on.
I'm done complaining.
Congratulations on the forum again.
edit;Actually I see it turns blue when I put my gropy little hand on it.
Yeah great - but when will the script errors get fixed?
moementum7 05-15-04, 08:59 AM For crying out loud Q, if your not complaining about one thing its another!
Get off the guys back already!
Can't you see the "Man" is busy!
JK by the way.
moementum7 05-15-04, 09:02 AM Just looked up the symbol up above.
It means"To have over come syphilis and remain sexually active" :D
Sheesh, don't you know anything?
moementum7 05-15-04, 09:05 AM Fuck you asshole.
HAHAHAHA!
That was a big button I just pushed.
Sorry Q, sounds like you haven't had your first cup of coffee yet.
My sympathies and apologies.
And here I thought the Q-man was invulnerable!
Where have all my heroes gone? :(
cosmictraveler 05-15-04, 09:24 AM I prefer it with a light background with dark letters but I can get use to anything.
Might be different on Mac, but on IE previous clicked links are appearing as (i think) black, while the background is very dark grey. It makes it almost impossible to see it.
moementum7 05-15-04, 09:30 AM I bet you can Cosmic!
Espeacially that special affection of your cell mate Bubba giving you all that "special" attention eh, eh?! ;)
You sly dog you! :D
crazymikey 05-15-04, 09:31 AM I think it sucks, the old was much better than this. Just my opinion.
moementum7 05-15-04, 09:32 AM Your opinion sucks mikey! :D
Just my opinion :D
crazymikey 05-15-04, 09:50 AM I can't actually see the "links" on the black, till I move my mouse over them, while "sciforums" is the only one that is visible. This is quite crap compared to the other one. Just my opinion :p
how can you not see the links? they are practically black on white.
Some of the links are written in black and it's a bit hard to read with the dark grey background. But otherwise... looks good.
Porfiry 05-15-04, 10:14 AM ...only if you're using a piece of crap browser.
...only if you're using a piece of crap browser.
Well the links are showing up as white now so you've either changed it or my crap browser just became less crap. :p
Porfiry 05-15-04, 10:22 AM I would suggest the former.
whitewolf 05-15-04, 11:02 AM Black backgrounds remind me of those cleche rock bands' sites.
Closet Philosopher 05-15-04, 11:05 AM I like the new format.
Oh...you guys beat me to it. I thought this thread was the one made up a long time ago...*whistles*
ChildOfTheMind 05-15-04, 12:27 PM I have seen a similiar symbol once on sourceforge.net
I would suggest the former.
Thank you. :p
sargentlard 05-15-04, 01:49 PM Use Opera. No problems with colors in Opera.
Firefox seems to render the page fine...
As to the symbol, for some reason is makes me think of the ocean...is it from a maritime culture or something?
whitewolf 05-16-04, 08:04 AM Porfiry sits there, and thinks: "Fuck you all."
jadedflower 05-16-04, 08:12 AM I don't like the black banner :p
I like it! a lot better than that previous one
good job, Porfiry
...only if you're using a piece of crap browser.
Uh-huh - blame it on the browser.
curioucity 05-17-04, 10:30 AM Only new looks.......... hmm, nothing special.........
SkinWalker 05-17-04, 11:30 AM Use Opera. No problems with colors in Opera.
I'm with the Sarge, Opera's the best (http://www.opera.com/). Colors are all great here. Though in Opera, Goofyfish's avatar doesn't wink at me but Buffys' does.
| Beware of CrashZilla Below - :D
V
Mozilla and Firefox the best!!! :p
www.mozilla.org
Dreamwalker 05-17-04, 11:58 AM Well, I am with Skinwalker and sargentlard, Opera is the best.
BTW Goofyfish´s avatar winks even when you use Opera (in the 7.5 version at least)
you of course know that there are far more sites that show up wrong with Opera, than with mozilla.org browsers. anyways, this is pointless :D for each his own
spuriousmonkey 05-17-04, 12:42 PM you of course know that there are far more sites that show up wrong with Opera, than with mozilla.org browsers. anyways, this is pointless :D for each his own
I haven't come across many.
The only one is lycos. Some buttons look wrong..
jinchilla 05-22-04, 10:52 AM Maybe this has been addressed but I tire of searching: What happened to the "new posts" link?
Porfiry 05-23-04, 02:05 AM Er...nothing. Absolutely nothing.
jinchilla 05-23-04, 12:52 PM Doh! I see it now. Hmm, I don't remember it being over there. Thanks.
Porfiry 05-24-04, 06:04 AM Where did you think it was?!?
jinchilla 05-28-04, 08:39 PM I was offline for a bit and, upon returning, was looking to the left side. Guess I was just lost. Happens often.
