understood that this is to prevent wasting space with short messages. hoooowever, it appears that many are just adding characters to get their short message posted.

this isn't a poll but more of a plea to discard the character minimum. rather than voting, please present your own plea as to why it should be done away with.

How can anyone respond in less than ten characters? That's absurd, and I think that the character limit is well warranted. We've got far too many one liner responses as it is; If the limit were done away with I worry that we'd have some people doing noting but responding with an emoticon or two, and then we're no better than an AOL chat room.

I’d be in favor of a longer quota for posting, but the one in place seems reasonable enough. Look at on the bright side, it’ll help you develop your typing skills and build strong finger muscles!

the point is, they do anyway. but then unrelated words/letter/etc. are added to make it long enough to post. i have noticed a trend of copying the message about it being too short and pasting that in the reply box in addition to the short worded reply.
