    ...is happening from within.

Why are Americans unwilling to stop it?

The policies of the US have failed, they are descending into debt and fascism on their way to becoming a global military dictatorship, the American people are hiding their heads in the sand rather than face up to it.

    Is America over?

There is still bit more sand for the people to bury themselves with, but I hope they realize what they're doing before they are buried alive. They? I guess I should say we. I'm just as fucked as anyone around here.

Yeah America is over. So stop talking about it and maybe you can have some kind of a real life.

Most have been brainwashed into believing that politicians are really working hard for the "American" way but can't see through their propaganda as to the truth of the matter. Americans just go along with the the status que for they are to damn nusy working, raising a family and living to get involved much any longer.

we have debt to worry about, work in 5 mintues, still have to pick up the kids, feed ourselves, do the laundry, change the oil in our car, balance the checkbook, get to class, etc etc etc

we are so preoccupied we CANT think of anything else but whats next in 5 minutes.......and somewhere in that madness we have to find time for ouselves so we dont self destruct and have a mental break-down.

I think another issue is the American people know they really dont have a say so in anything, so we kinda just.....do what we need to do and live day by day. Americans are not unified either. The ones that are, are too few.

    my take on it anyhow

edit: and this is the kind of life were trying to bring to the mid-east.

Freedom my ass.....its slavery in disguise.

There is a new perspective that my generation seems to have on the issue which is why these "issues" are now truely "issues".

I keep in touch with several of my friends from high school and college which are about my age.......most of them see the american life as a rediculous cycle of consumption. The lifestyle is incredibly backwards. There has to be a "better way" because from what I have seen throughout my life is my generation is seeing how bitter and worn out older generations are and they are STILL struggleing. We see that and ask ourselves......is THIS what I have to look forward to?

America is just fine, thank you. Yes we have our problems with radical Islamists who want us converted/dead, criminal alien parasites, losers, and liberals, but this is still the greatest country on earth! :yay:

That is what people in Saudi Arabia say to me when I ask about their poor governance and why they put up with it.

Surely Americans can do better than that?

Do you honestly not see the slippery slope you are on?

The US is the Roman Empire of the 21st century. Their collapse is imminent.

Whether they go out with a bang is what everyone is worried about.

Nope. No slope for me. Just optomisim, happiness, joy, faith, hope, and belief in the finest country in the world. I will be long-gone when it degenerates to the cesspool-level some people think we're at now.

A man is driving alone in his sport utility vehicle on a paved road slick from recent rainfall. He is smoking a cigarette and listening to classic rock. His windshield is dirty and he squints through the glass and smoke as he follows the painted lines. The cigarette is almost gone and so he decides to get rid of it, but he doesn't want to get his vehicle dirty, so he throws it out the window and thinks his problem is solved... the vehicle didn't get damaged and his cigarette is gone. Will he crash? Maybe. Does he notice the rust eating away at the body of his vehicle? Perhaps. But he is content to enjoy the moment, escaping in the sounds of an old rock band and the soothed nerves from smoking a cigarette. When the next song plays, he thinks to himself, he'll smoke another cigarette. It's possible that he cares about the condition of his self and his environment. Maybe he feels guilty. But unless he takes action to make a change in his life, his vehicle will keep rusting, he'll drown his thoughts in escapism, and he'll keep poisoning himself with something he paid for.

No. But Americans are in for a rude awakening in the next fifty years. This is not unlike the rude awakening that Europeans got about fifty years ago.

Do you know how long the Roman Empire lasted? And who will replace the U.S?

That seems strange to me. I see nothing wrong with the lifestyle per se (except what it costs to people outside teh US).

Why would Americans want their lifestyle to end?

    What are they missing?
