The best director

Who would you folks say is the best director?

for me it has got to be, either

del toro or quention tarantino

For me it is George Lucas or Steven Spielberg. Isn't tarantino the one who makes sadistic movies??

Uwe Boll.

Tarantino, Guy Ritchie, John Ford, Akira Kurosawa, and Sergio Leone are my favorites.

Don't know any of those, but I happened to watched Kill Bill and Hostel which are among most sadistic one I've ever seen :fright:

 

yeah he did those aswell, both really good films, however not his best

 

Some more good ones:

Joel and Ethan Coen, Robert Rodriguez, Peter Jackson, John Woo.

 

Quentin Tarantino was involved with Hostel in some way, but I think the director was Eli Roth.

WALT DISNEY... Too many to list! Simply the best that I've ever watched while very young.

JOHN HUSTON ...The Maltese Falcon (1941),

Great list. I forgot about Coppola, Disney and Cameron.

I should also add Clint Eastwood and Ridley Scott to my lists.

oh yeah tim burton, another great director, i loved nightmare before christmas, and i took my youngest child to see coraline 3d and we loved it, the 3d effects were amoungest the best i have ever seen

 

Akira Kurosawa. His technique for the time was almost flawless.

 

Terry Gilliam. I like everything he's ever done.

stylistically it was spectacular but the story was just about your average creep and nothing to right home about. the thing i liked was an almost futuristic yet current (for the times) feel to it.

tbh, when i was younger i liked it more but as i got older i just wanted to punch alex in the nose.

 

I'm conflicted between Guru Dutt and Satyajit Ray

 

i like John Schlesinger director of Midnight Cowboy. but there are too many to list.
