If you were stranded on a desert island and could only have ten albums to listen to (the island happens to have a 10-disc changer and a sweet listening room, no doubt), what would they be?

    In alphabetical order

    Bryan Ferry: In Your Mind
    Gentle Giant: Free Hand
    Sally Oldfield: Water Bearer
Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon
    Renaissance: Novella
    Patti Smith: Radio Ethiopia
Chris Squire: Fish Out of Water
    Strauss: Metamorphosen
Vaughan Williams: The Lark Ascending. I suppose one of his symphonies will be on the CD as well, let's hope it's #9

What about the single book, apart from the Bible or Shakespeare?

    That's one kick ass island!!

    In no order...

    1: Chemlab - Oxidizer

Simply a stunning album. One of the unsung classics of the 21st century.

2: Acumen Nation - Lord of the Cynics

A brilliant outcry against modern society that actually makes sense. None of this 'You must die' shit we're so used to.

3: Karmic Jera - Zombies, Blood and Go, Go Girls

This album got me through secondary school and college. It will get me through this as well.

    4: KMFDM - WWIII

One of the better anti-Bush albums (the other being Houses of the Mole).

    5: Will Smith - Willenium

Okay, this is my deepest, darkest secret. I love this album.

    6: Hate Dept. - Omnipresent

Stunning album. Has some really catchy tracks.

    7: DooM Official Sound Track

Clint Mansell's (of Pop Will Eat Itself fame) coldwave masterpiece as well as what has to be simply the best NiN remix ever concieved by a human being.

8: CoLD SToRAGE - WipEout OST

Simply brilliant electronica from a classic game. What else is there to argue about?

9: Italian Body Music Compilation Vol.1

Who could argue with a totally free album with some of the best Italian industrial acts around? I couldn't.

10: Dope Stars Inc. - Neuromance

I consider this to be simply the best album released in 2005. DSIs debut album was a long time in the making but it delivered a lot more than it initially promised. Off to see them live in Italy soon!

It's interesting to note that most albums picked by people so far aren't that recent

I wouldn't bring anything with me to a desert island. Maybe food.

10? I'd be content with just one -> "Voyager" by Mike Oldfield

But if you need 9 others..

    > Vangelis "1492 - Conquest of Paradise"
    > Floating Flower "Floating Flower"
    > Dead Can Dance "Within the realm of a dying sun"
    > Dead Can Dance "The serpent's egg"
    > Ataraxia "Lost Atlantis"
    > Lisa Gerrard (the singer of DCD) "The mirror pool"
    > Mike Oldfield "Songs of distant Earth"
    > Tibetan Incantations (tibetan meditation mantra music)
    > Nebelhexe "Laguz - within the lake"
